I’m sure I’m not the only one who reaches for a simple little mini, or a breezy slip dress the minute the barometer heats up. It’s the definitely of effortless dressing; throwing on one simple piece and a pair of shoes and you’re ready to take on the world. Spring (and by default, summer) has finally arrived in Sydney, so I’ve found that instead of opting for separates, I want to throw on something easy and carefree.

Wearing MLM Label dress (mint version available here), Charlotte Olympia pumps (old but similar here), Pandora reflexions bracelets, Zodiac bag (luxe option here), Mejuri necklaces & earrings

This little number from MLM Label is a case in point; it’s light and airy, while still being a full outfit in one. I also really love the relaxed style of the dress – perfect for those casual weekends or even to pack in your suitcase when travelling somewhere exotic for a bit of exploring. As for the rest of my wardrobe, I’m pretty much set with enough linen midi dresses, off the shoulder polka dot numbers and boho-style mini’s to see me through the rest of spring and summer. But, for those of you still on the hunt for something cute to add to your spring/summer wardrobe, I wanted to share a round up of ten dresses that’ll get you through the warmer months.

The Floral Mini Dress: Florals for spring aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but it’s a trend that comes around again and again for good reason. I especially love this little floral mini from Ulla Johnson; the deep V at the front, contrasted with the micro floral and ruffled sleeves is a gorgeous pairing, and I think this would be the perfect dress for wearing day to day when you want to look like you’ve made an effort (even if you really haven’t).

The Ditsy Floral Wrap Dress: Reformation has been on my list of brands to try for some time, and I don’t really think you can go wrong with a wrap dress. Continuing that floral theme, this gorgeous midi dress has a pretty ditsy floral print all over, and I like that it’s made from deadstock fabric.

The Leopard Print Wrap Dress: Leopard print has been coming back in a big way, but it’s not exactly for everybody, and sometimes, it can look a little too bold. This wrap dress may be leopard-printed, but it’s a much softer and subtle take on the trend.

The White Cotton Midi Dress: I tend to gravitate a lot towards white in the warmer months. It’s just so fresh, and always looks great with a tan. This midi dress might look a little bit basic, but it’s all in the details.

The Linen Button Front Dress: One of my favourite fabrics for summer is linen. It might be more prone to creasing than other materials, but it’s breathable and has a lovely soft lived in look to it. This button front dress is such a little winner; it’s affordable, it has a statement neckline, and I love the tortoiseshell button front detail.

The Tie Front Dress: Relaxed silhouettes are kind of a must when it gets hot, and I thought that this was a really cute option which could do double duty for the office (depending on how you styled it, of course). It has an oversized kimono-esque feel, and the tie at the waist helps to give it a bit more shape.

The White Frill Mini Dress: When you’re wearing something as simple as a little white mini, sometimes you want to add a little bit of drama, and this ruffled mini has that in spades. This is one of those fresh summer dresses that would pair perfectly with sun-kissed skin.

The Daisy Print Slip Dress: Realisation Par has been having a major moment of late, and perhaps one of their prettiest prints is their daisy chain floral. That being said, their dresses run on the pricier end of the spectrum, so I was really excited when I spotted this daisy print slip dress from Topshop. I like that this would be cute on its own (it also has a cowl back detail), but looks great layered up for autumn too.

The Belted Midi Dress: I’ve been really drawn to these simple pinafore style dresses that are belted at the waist, and I really loved the look of this beige option, with the tortoiseshell buttons. It’s got a slight vintage feel, but the slit up the thigh makes it look a bit more modern.

The Dark Floral Slip Dress: There’s definitely a bit of a theme with my spring/summer dress picks; I’m into the idea of florals in a big way. I LOVE the look of this slip dress from Madewell in the French Rose floral. The straps cross over at the back, and the dark floral gives it an elegant feel – perfect for those spring/summer weddings.

OMG that Need Supply belted midi is too good, I love it. I’m pretty well set now for dresses, I don’t tend to reach for dresses all that much but you’re right that they’re so much easier than combining separates! I’ll have to try harder.
