Over the weekend L and I once again made our way down to Queenstown, to join a couple of friends at their New Zealand wedding. Having attended their UK wedding which was accompanied by torrential rain, the spectacular Queenstown weather was a welcome contrast for them on their special day.

Most of our last day in Queenstown was spent slowly wandering through the town, and soaking up the beautiful views of the lake – which, on sunny days like we had, is almost all you want to do. After realising that I had a loaf of bread in my bag, remnants of the cheese ‘platter’ from the night before, I couldn’t help but dash down the beach to feed the ducks (and avoid being attacked by the seagulls which followed). Flying out of Queenstown is enough to leave you deflated, especially after the weekend we had, and waking up to stunning views of the Shotover River only made it harder to leave.

  1. I must must must make my way to New Zealand one of these days. Especially considering I’ve seen return flights that are cheaper than those to Sydney or Melbourne! Every time I see scenic photos of NZ I’m just blown away.
