Autumn/Winter Wardrobe Tracking

I’ve got less than a month left in the 5PFW Challenge (for Autumn/Winter, that is), so I’ve been thinking a bit lately about the last item to add to my seasonal wardrobe.

To sum up, I’ve tracked down four of five items, although I’m a little lost on the last one. I strayed a little from my original list, so it’s now looking a little like this:

Mansur Gavriel bucket bag
– Acne black velocite shearling leather jacket
– Acne Studios black jensen leather boots
– Nicholas Kirkwood low-heeled pumps
– Celine black a-line dress
– A little bit of Lover
– Karen Walker smock top
– Still deciding on this last one…

To say I failed with my winter wardrobe planning is an understatement; the one piece which I well and truly had committed to was the Mansur Gavriel bucket bag, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was due to the pre-order waiting period of six months, either.

Not shopping hasn’t been the tough part. Rather, it’s been deciding what exactly it is that I want to buy, and add to my slowly declining wardrobe. Do I see out the rest of the month without buying something new? Or do I splurge on a big ticket item I’ve been after (and unabashedly saving a few too many street style shots of…)?

I suppose the real question is, how many bags is too many?

Yea, that’s my issue too. What do I actually want to spend my money on now? I’ve been doing a little better with not shopping but sales sometimes tempt me a lot.
I do love that Drew bag, but I also love the Chloe Faye bag…partly because it’s my middle name, ha ha.

Oh I didn’t know Faye was your middle name, that’s pretty! It’s a lot more of that 70s style the Faye; gorgeous too of course. I’ve been trying to focus on wedding prep etc so not sure whether this will be coming home with me anytime soon.

I guess it’s a case of deciding whether purchasing that last item is just to tick a box? Or if you could assign any designated money to your next challenge and be happy with what you have from this winter list? I feel like the annoying mosquito of a conscience or the mum voice saying, “Do you really need that?” but sometimes the feeling of FOMO increases as a deadline looms and a kind of scrambling panic sets in. You’ve done such a great, honest and considered challenge as it stands – be super proud of that alone.

Of course, if you think that last purchase is what you really need – then go for it. [says the devil on the other shoulder]

Haha I totally hear you. I’ve actually had this bag on my wishlist since it was released (ie. before the Fashion Week mayhem that catapulted this to the top of the ‘it’ list), so it’s not as much a passing fancy as some other things I’ve been after. I’m not fussed if I end up finishing the challenge with only 4 of the 5 ticked off, i actually think I would end up feeling better that way! Might see how things pan out with some of the wedding planning – that does come first haha.
