Country Road stripe top, T by Alexander Wang skirt, Cos coat, Stuart Weitzman loafers, Mansur Gavriel bucket bag, Happiness Boutique necklace (c/o)

These past few weeks, I’ve been trying to escape the monotony of wearing head to toe black, day in and day out. Granted, it’s easy, and it’s all I want to reach for as soon as the cold comes knocking on my door, but three years of promising to introduce a little colour is starting to catch up with me. there were the bold red trousers I loved for a minute, the burnt orange loafers I felt were guaranteed to be a winter winner, and the many printed confections I brought home from Karen Walker which all seemed to have disappeared from within the four walls of my closet.

if there’s one thing that has managed to stick around, it’s been a bold bejewelled necklace – the bigger the better, as far as I’m concerned. It’s been the finishing touch before I’ve dashed out the door, and is something I’ve found I’ve been wearing more often than I remember to slip my engagement ring on before I head out the door. Old habits die hard, right?

It’s the one area of my wardrobe where mixed metals and jewel-hued brights are in abundance; meaning that this latest addition from Happiness Boutique is going to fit. right. in.

I love blue for the summertime, especially cornflower blue. It’s just so pretty! I’ve been enjoying your summer outfits by the way, so cute x

I absolutely resonate with your comment “three years of promising to introduce a bit of colour is starting to catch up with me.” I love my mono[tony]chromatic closet for the ease of dressing every day. Sometimes I wonder how can I really say I’m a lover of fashion when I dress from a so…boringly?…unfashion?…basic? colour palette devoid of any fanciful print, interesting or colourful accents. I save so many inspirational images and daydream about colour or prints and have purchased such things to add “something” to my outfits but sadly [and wastefully] they sit there untouched – like they’re ‘too much’ for me. That probably sounds weird.
The statement necklace is a way I have forgotten to do so what with all the focus on ‘minimalistic’ and ‘classic’ dressing ideals that I’ve identified and become comfortable with, so you’ve inspired me to dig out a couple and try again.
I’ve also been thinking I’ll take cues from Leandra and go the scarf route to add something colourful/printed to my repertoire.
The coat though – such a great cut and ‘colour’.

Apologies for the long comment 🙂

That is how I feel too – every Fashion Week I think, how much more fun would I be having if my wardrobe looked like THAT?! But the only thing is, would I even know how to manage it? I’ve got a bit of blue and red for summer time but come winter I’m in black and white day in and day out. Oooh yes scarves are a good one – I’m still at odds as to how to wear them though. I always go the safe route with silk scarves and tie them to my bag…
