Bioderma Crealine – does it live up to the hype?

Bioderma Crealine H20 Solution Micellaire cleanser

I’ve read enough beauty blogs to know that Bioderma Crealine is a bit of a cult make-up item. Regularly touted as one of the best make-up removers, it seemed without question that I’d be loathe to not pick up a bottle when I spotted it at Priceline (probably on one of my many dry shampoo runs!).

So, the real question is, does it live up to all the hype? Truthfully, after using this regularly over the last month, I can’t help but say, yes and no.

I’ve got fairly sensitive skin, so I’m generally wary about using new products, especially considering I’ve been more prone to eczema breakouts on my face since moving to Sydney. Thankfully, I’ve found the Bioderma solution to be pretty light and gentle, absent of the stinging sensation I occasionally get with the odd brand of make-up remover. It does a fairly excellent job at removing my make-up, and doesn’t leave a film on my skin like the Nutrogena remover I usually reach for.

However, I hate to admit it, but it is absolutely hopeless at removing waterproof mascara, which for the first two weeks of using it, was the only mascara I had to hand. As you can imagine, I lost a lot of lashes in the process; a rookie mistake, though it did mean the first thing I did come pay day was rush down to the beauty counter to pick up a tube of regular mascara. Lesson learned.

And if word around the internet is anything to go by, this really is worth its weight in make-up, and I’m inclined to agree – waterproof mascara aside, of course. What are your thoughts? Have you used Bioderma crealine before?

I’ve recently tried this as well. I think it’s excellent at removing eye makeup. To be honest I just don’t get the point of waterproof mascara unless you are anticipating crying? Cleansing oils are best for removing heavy makeup and/or waterproof mascara. Garnier also do a good dupe of this!

LOL That’s how I always felt about waterproof mascara! Luke bought me a three pack of Lancome from duty free and it was all waterproof so I was just using it because… what else was I going to use?

I’ve got to try the garnier version too – might pick up a bottle when my bathroom cabinet is a little less over flowing x

I really like Bioderma but I have been using the Garnier Micellar Water I bought in Australia and it is essentially exactly the same product, but way cheaper! I still keep a blue bi-phase waterproof eye makeup remover for hard to remove mascaras, but it gets everything else off fine.

I’m probably going to pop into Priceline today so might check this out – my bathroom cupboard is a little overflowing at the moment.

PS. I have a STACK of OPI nail polishes to bring for you and Nina 🙂

Oh that’s interesting. I keep meaning to buy a bottle on Amazon to see if it really is that amazing as it’s quite affordable. I wouldn’t have any problems with the waterproof mascara part though seeing as how I am absolutely pants at applying mascara so rarely ever wear any and I’m pretty sure mine are not waterproof. I have been using the RMS raw coconut cream as a cleanser and I like that and it does seem to remove eye makeup quite well though it is very different from the usual kind of cleansers out there being a coconut cream/oil. I have to be quite gently around the eyes as I’m scared of losing any eyelashes – I don’t have many to start off with as it is and they are all very short. But the coconut cream does smell lovely 🙂

Looks like the Garnier version is meant to be just as good – I’ll let you know when I finally pick up a bottle – have to say the price had put me off too.

Your make up remover sounds SO MUCH BETTER. Smelling like coconuts? I’d be pretty pleased with that 🙂

I have the Garnier micellar water which is pretty good but I tend to use it after my cleanser as it seems to just clean everything off!

i use this after cleansing and i agree it’s good except when it comes to waterproof eye make up. not sure if i’m going to bother replacing it when it runs out since i have a separate oil-based remover as well.
