It’s no secret that I’m a girl who is obsessed with shoes, considering how often I tend to refer to them and how frequently it would appear that I buy a new pair. It’s been a long time coming before I finally succumbed to a pair of dicker boots, or at least, I should say, a second pair of dicker boots.
Like most holiday purchases, the first were an incredibly impulsive buy while in LA, after learning that the NYC Creatures of Comfort store had one taupe pair left in my size. The extent to which I went to purchase them involved calling the NYC store first thing and making the purchase over the phone as we headed out to Disneyland, and then painstakingly waiting for two weeks to finally pick them up. Clearly I had my priorities in check. Unfortunately as it turned out, the taupe pair just weren’t for me, although it took me the better part of a year to finally give them up even though they were seldom worn.
So, perhaps it was inevitable that when I saw the anthracite pair in Workshop that I would be unable to leave without them, one of those fortuitous finds that could possibly be construed as yet another impulse buy. I’d prefer to think of it as an investment piece, one of those things that I will find myself wearing day in and day out until they are so worn through that I just need to let them go. Either way, they’ve already become a fast favourite, one that I’m unlikely to regret this time around.
