Constantly browsing through apartments, flats and terrace houses online coincides quite neatly with predictably obsessing over how to decorate. As I face the prospect of almost furnishing a place from scratch, I’ve been looking to Pinterest and Tumblr for inspiration – which as you can imagine, is a veritable treasure trove of beautifully styled houses.

While I toss up between art deco and minimalist styles, there’s no denying that the Scandinavians never seem to put a foot wrong when it comes to decorating. Simple, clean, unfussy, with white lacquered floors and sheepskin rugs contrasting against dark chocolate coffee tables and steel framed chairs. My latest bookmark? These gorgeous interior shots of Danish designer Yvonne Kone’s home. With an industrial vibe, and a monotone colour palette consisting of solely black and white, it’s the kind of home I just can’t get out of my head. Back to the drawing board I suppose; well, either that or raiding half the stock at West Elm Bondi. Never has a herringbone mirrored coffee table looked so good, in that deliciously gaudy kind of way.

The timing of this post is so funny – I was literally just saying to my boyfriend yesterday how I wanted our next home to be decorated like this – clean, white, natural – scandinavian style! The pictures you’ve chosen are perfect X

Oh you’re kidding! How funny. I’m quite lucky that my bf is letting me do most of the decorating, as I’ve pretty much bombarded him with links and he has liked everything. The only difficult part is deciding the style, as I’ve got so many conflicting tastes. Sigh.

Really beautiful inspiration.. This kind of home is in my dreams too, but for now there’s too much stuff around me and some wrong colours too. The coffee table you linked is also amazing! A liiiiitle out of my current budget but replaceable with something similar 🙂

It seems so much easier to start from scratch right? I’ve got a coffee table to send over here so hopefully that won’t be too far away, although something in the meantime will probably be necessary, yet at a much more friendly price point 😉

I’ve come to the realisation that as much as I love minimalist interiors, I could never live with that kind of style. I just invite too much clutter into my home! Right now I’m all about mid-century modernist interiors which kind of fits in with my fondness for colour and timber. But that will probably change once I find something new to obsess over haha.

Most of the time though I think that the space helps dictate what the decor should be like. Which is kind of great when you’re starting from scratch!
