With a couple of jam-packed weeks behind me, I thought tonight seemed as good a night as any to treat myself (and Luke) to a quiet one in. Think pjs on by 7:00pm, binge-watching our latest obsession on Netflix, and a little bit of online browsing (a.k.a window shopping to my heart’s content). Twenty tabs and two hours spent uncovering the entire home section of Anthropologie later, and I’m halfway there to planning out the styling for the rest of our place – a shame they don’t ship furniture to Australia!

While the parquet wooden and polished concrete floors are a long way off (hello dream home!), I’m thinking the black and copper contrasting side tables, abstract wall art and lavender-blush hued plush sofa couches are a little more attainable in the short term. Oh, and that copper trimmed circular mirror which is just e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.

Planning aside, if there’s one thing that’s holding me back, it’s the playful, rambunctious, bite-y little puppy taking up almost every spare second of our free time. My propensity to plan obsessively for the known, the unknown, and just about everything in between has me wondering if a new piece of furniture (or the moroccan wedding blanket I’ve had my eye on for so long) is worth the investment at this stage, or the teeth marks! Would love to hear your thoughts if you’ve got a playful pup of your own!

Oh my we have similar good taste in interior design! Gorgeous inspiration here. You can source a lot that is similar in Sydney but I would be very, very hesitant with an expensive new sofa or wedding blanket until puppy has grown and matured in a few years time if he is an inside dog. Your grey and white ones are just fine for now aren’t they? You’ll be safe with the wall decorating you mentioned which makes a huge difference to the ambiance of a room. And one final thought…..watch him with your shoes!!

I feel like the minimal look is a lot easier to achieve too – a colleague of mine at work said her place has a lot of morroccan influences but I find the choice of colour and combinations just WAY too overwhelming to even go there.

Yeah, I think you’re right. I’ve caught Nigel nibbling on our dining table (the one from West Elm) and he sleeps on the grey couch at this stage so I’m thinking I may wait until we’re ready to retire our current grey one… We do need some coffee tables desperately though and I can’t wait until Nigel is fully house trained so I can pull out my Beni Ourain again.

With the shoes, I always always always tuck them away in the closet so no worries there for me. Luke on the other hand tends to leave his out so I’ve caught Nigel quite happily wandering down the hallway with a shoe in his mouth!

My advice … From having a Weimaraner … Wait until the pup is 12 months before buying any beautiful linen or anything that can be bitten, 18 months if you can handle it. We’ve only just updated our puppy bitten dining table and chairs and our puppy just turned 5. All safe now though, we could leave him inside unattended now but in those first 12 or 18 months nothing was safe!

Okay, definitely taking this on board! If Nigel is tired he becomes a sleepy puppy but truth be told that only happens on the weekend. I’m of the mind to get a Greyhound at some point too so.. maybe in a few years time… 😀
