Karen Walker dress (similar style), Country Road shirt (similar), Vintage chelsea boots, Proenza Schouler PS11 satchel

I never thought I’d be wearing tights so early into the new year, but alas, such is life living in Wellington. At any rate, it gives me an excuse to get a bit more wear out of this ‘jerkin’ dress I snapped up on sale from Maximillia. Comments from Luke about my resemblance to Japanese schoolgirls aside, it feels like a not so cutesy foray into the world of dungaree style dresses. So good, in fact, that I couldn’t resist buying multiples, the second in a soft muted ecru tone. Considering it would be somewhat absurd to accumulate a third (and trust me, I contemplated it!), my mum was quick to nab the boucle style when I alerted her to the fact that it was 70% off. There’s nothing quite like a good sale!

What a cute wrapover dress! I’d swap Bristol for Wellington any day. šŸ˜‰

I don’t think you’ll ever worry about fluctuations in weather when you get to Sydney. Good for you for taking that huge step in faith.

When we arrived in the UK along with 5 other couples from NZ, most were convinced that they’d move back within 3 years. 5 years later, we’re all still here. For my husband and I, it was a commitment. We didn’t think we can truly live and explore Europe in 3 short years. Besides, we were the only ones with a child at that stage so moving around wasn’t an option. I love New Zealand but after living a short distance from London, I can see why the country can be very limiting especially if you’re ambitious and wanting to explore more opportunities. I’m not sure if we can live again in NZ but the only pull is the family and friends.

I should add that none of us moved over to the UK with a job waiting for us. There has been ups and downs but it has been an unforgettable experience.

Oh wow, well it’s really great to hear that you have had a positive experience overall. I find it baffling the number of people who ask me if I have a job lined up – seems odd, I mean, yes it’s just across the ditch but most workplaces want to hire someone who is living in their city!
