October Beauty & Fashion Favourites ’15

beauty fashion favourites october 2015

The end of each month always seems to strike me by surprise, as though I don’t even see it coming – this month, even more so, as it’s been packed with visiting family, having friends over, and sharing in the celebration of a very special day for two close friends.

I have a few new favourites, and a few old ones to share with you this month. Starting with my fashion favourites; I’ve been completely smitten with the embellished faux-patent loafers I recently picked up from ASOS. I’ve been eyeing up similar styles from Marni but what I love about these is that they are so unapologetically simple, with a huge pop of sparkle across the toe – oh, and they didn’t break the bank! My other fashion favourite was a simple dove grey silk cami from Everlane. I’ve been wearing this a lot lately as Sydney has been a lot hotter than I’d anticipated. I like that the straps are adjustable, the silk is relatively hefty (so going bra-less isn’t an issue, if that’s your thing), and it just goes with everything.

My skincare routine has seen a few changes in the last few months, and one product I have been l-o-v-i-n-g is the Glow Tonic from Pixi. I had been wanting to try this toner for months, and when I stumbled across it on Cult Beauty, I couldn’t resist adding it to my cart, and I have to say I’m very glad I did. This has just completely changed my complexion; I have far fewer spots (a direct result of the glycolic acid in the formula I’d assume) and it’s just cleared up my skin a lot. I also really like the fresh scent – it smells a little like cucumbers (although I could do without the cutesy packaging!).

I’ve been rocking a bold lip, or reaching for a liquid lipstick a lot recently, so the Lush mint julip lip scrub has been coming out every other day, just to slough away any dry patches on my lips. This stuff smells like mint chocolate and since it’s essentially sugar, you can lick it off your lips if you like!

My last two favourites are a lip combo that I’ve been loving for Spring; the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in pink venus and the NYX Butter Gloss in maple blondie. I find that the CT Lip Cheat is a little on the (very) matte side for me, so I’ve found that I don’t like wearing this with a lipstick as it’s far too drying on the lips whereas it feels a lot more comfortable to wear with the gloss. The gloss is quite an opaque formula, it smells like cake butter, and has a slight bit of tackiness to it, but nothing too off-putting. I’d really like to try this out in a few more shades, but for now, I’ve just really been enjoying this simple combination.

Well, those are all my favourites for the month of October; if you’d like to check out my video (where I share swatches) then click here to get watching. x

That camisole looks really nice. I love that it has a bit of length to it. I’m considering a cashmere turtleneck by Everlane, but it seems a bit foolish to just order one thing when shipping is that high. So I’m looking into some other options as well. Oops!

Yeah that’s the way I feel – I tend to buy things from a few different stores to make it worth it. You should try asking friends if they want to do a joint order with you.

I just picked up the trench and am waiting for my packages to consolidate so I can get it sent across (not that I’ll need it now we are going into summer) – I couldn’t resist so will do a mini review when I finally get it 🙂
