A bit of spring florals

Isabel Marant top, Karen Walker floral skirt, Topshop heels, Queen’s Wardrobe trench coat, Alexander Wang emile tote, Marc by Marc Jacobs katie bracelet, Mimco starlight necklace

So speaking of basic wardrobe pieces recently, here is one of mine – a lightweight beige trench coat which I picked up from Queen’s Wardrobe, simple with a twist, in the detailing on the shoulders. For some reason, I spent a long time thinking that a trench coat was just one of those classics that I don’t need, but recently, I’ve found that it’s often what I throw on just as I’m about to leave the house. You never know what the weather is going to do in Wellington so it always pays to play it safe.

Generally, I’ve found that lately I’m just keeping it simple and fuss-free, partly due to the warmer weather, it always inspires a less structured approach to getting ready. An almost too simple top, and a floaty skirt being quite possibly the easiest things to reach for considering my fondness for separates. This skirt, while familiar, is actually the result of a swap with a friend, to try it out in a slightly different style. Not something that I do often, but it sure is a fun way to give your wardrobe a momentary update!

Every girl needs a trench coat, and this one is ahhhmazing! Those shoes are so great too! wouldn’t normally think of pairing all the things you have in this outfit but you’ve done it so well! (As usual!) xo

I love the skirt. It seems to be one of these thing that can go with almost everything! Basic things rule. I am a huge believer in that. Still living without trench coat thought… should change that. Your’s lovely.

I so love the detailing on the shoulders. It gives the trench a very unique look. This is how I long to dress when I get myself a real job, but alas, until then, I find it pointless to dress sophisticated just to drag myself out of bed for my college classes. In high school, though, I took a lot of pride in my wardrobe. I hope my un-motivation is just temporary 🙂

Love the floral skirt! I must say that I don’t wear my trench coat much at all – I think I just need to work out how to style it better! 🙂

I like the unique details on your trench coat 🙂 The shoes are adorable and I love the bag! I agree, trench coats are great for days when you’re unsure how cold it might get.

I love how you mix and match tops and bottoms with such ease. I’ve got much to learn from you. I’ve been stuck in the jeans rut and never truly ventured into skirts all that much.
