I think I have writer’s block. You know, where you try and try and try to put pen to paper, but the words aren’t coming out the way that you expect them. Each line you write, every keystroke made, is just a pool of mismatched words and letters, akin to a bowl of alphabet soup. The harder you try, the worse it seems to get; Inspiration is such an organic process, it comes along suddenly and can’t be switched on and off at will like a light switch or a tap, which isn’t exactly convenient (and would also explain to the outside observer the large number of notes on my iPhone that contain little more than four words). The worst of course, is when inspiration never comes, no matter how many times you walk away from said project.

You could probably describe this outfit as the getting dressed version of writer’s block. On those days where barely anything I try on looks right, I always find myself going back to my trusty collection of black basics, be it a mini dress, skinny jeans, simple tee or pair of heels, the combination of black on black always seems to be the solution. If only the solution to writer’s block was as easy!

Apparently the widely acknowledged approach to dealing with writer’s block is to just keep on writing, no matter how crap you feel the writing is, and that helps you to work through the block and get your brain on the right track again. Not sure how that approach translates to dressing though, haha. Try lots of outfits? Just put on an outfit and wear it out and try not to worry about whether you’re not entirely happy with it? Probably the latter, I guess.

I love your boots. Are they comfortable? Also, how is the sizing? There is one pair left on Saks, but they are a half size bigger than I would normally take…

      Hey Kristin,

I find them to be incredibly comfortable – I got them in my usual size, and they were a perfect fit, although you could probably go up half a size and still be okay 🙂
