The holidays are quickly approaching, which has me thinking a lot about what I will be wearing come New Years Eve. I’m not sure about you, but this year on New Year’s Eve, I’ll be enjoying a 10-course degustation with some of the people that I love the most. Lately, more than anything, I’ve been drawn to simple silhouettes, worn with over-the-top embellished jewels paired with some killer heels and gorgeous clutch. This particular aesthetic could not be more evident in the Belle de noir inspired theme I came across on Matches Fashion, which served heavily as inspiration while I browsed the site.

For me, it’s not necessarily always about finding the perfect party dress, as I quite often find myself drawn to separates, and in particular, ones that can be worn above and beyond their initial purpose. This is exactly what the DvF pascale skirt embodies for me, essentially a blank canvas that complements whatever it is paired with, be it a silk peplum top or a fitted lace top. The opportunities to play with varying midnight and black-hued fabrics of differing textures is sort of well, endless. Like pairing a lace dress with a boucle jacket or coat. Subtle yet elegant – will you be going for the “belle de noir” look this New Year’s Eve?

Ooh-la-la, somebody’s getting fancy. Or you could go the opposite with white magik? I don’t know what I’m wearing yet, but I’ll just be at a friend’s place, so it will be more casual. I’m thinking perhaps something colourful, as that always feels fun. Probably separates as well, but with flat shoes. Nice and relaxed. Degustation dinner sounds awesome!

I’m currently leaning toward an almost opposite – the Lover mini wiccan in mushroom worn with gold Givenchy heels. Will see what the weather is like though of course!x

I haven’t really planned my outfit (it’s always last minute!) but I think it’s a safe bet it’ll look something like this! 😉 I am in love with so many of these pieces, but especially the Joomi Lim necklace & Charlotte Olympia heels! I tend to always end up wearing a LBD + statement jewellery when I go out, it’s such a fail safe but always looks amazing!
