Some stripes, some sequins

J Crew striped jumper, 3.1 by Phillip Lim skirt (similar), Topshop loafers(similar), Proenza Schouler PS11 bag, Marc by Marc Jacobs katie bracelet

Somehow, and I’m not quite sure how this happened, my wardrobe has been almost completely devoid of sequins, bar a glitzy golden pair of heels, for far too long. Taking advantage of the Black Friday sales, I managed to rectify this slightly with this stripe and sequin number I had been eying up for quite some time. Not quite so glaringly in your face as gold sequins, and for me, it is more of a subtle nuance to the festive season – but unfortunately a subtlety which doesn’t quite show up on camera.

I’m thinking that my J Crew obsession will probably hit a peak sometime over the next few months, having recently discovered and successfully used NZ Post’s “YouShop” parcel forwarding service (which as luck would have it, is far more cost-effective than buying direct) – which also, correct me if I’m wrong, I believe is available to our Australian neighbours too. With all the shops in the US that this FINALLY opens my mail box to, I foresee myself needing some serious self-restraint, especially during sale season!

what a cute sweater! before reading I was squinting to try and see the sequins, but I like how subtle they are, it’s one of those things that can only be appreciated from up close, and from far away it looks normal. love the combination of stripes and leopard print too x

I like the knit, but what I really adore is that skirt… so cute! I want one!

Stripes and leo print work so well together! This YouShop thing sounds exciting, so many US clothing retail options have opened up. This sounds dangerous!

LOVE your jumper – can’t really see the sequins though but it looks gorgeous. I love anything with stripes.

I have such a weakness for striped sweaters, so I’m in love with this. The leopard skirt is such a fun spin on the look!

The sweater is so beautiful! I love that it’s really subtle, from a distance it looks like an ordinary striped sweater, but then once you get up close you notice the sequins & appreciate how pretty & unique it really is. Perfect styling as usual too, never get tired of seeing that gorgeous PS11!
How cute is the art lining this walkway too?! πŸ™‚

I’m quite obsessed with J.Crew. I’m pretty sure that you can get your fix for color and sequins there. Not to be an enabler or anything, LOL. I do love the skirt that you are wearing here. So cute!

Gorgeous! I wish I could pull off sequins but just not daring enough!

Question about your PS11. Have you had any fraying problems? Well it isn’t disastrous, I occasionally trim mine along the handles. Just wondering if its just me that this is happening to. I got mine from net-a-porter in March for reference.

You never know until you try!

As for the PS11 – I haven’t had any problems, the seam closure? where the handle/strap meets the body of the bag has worn a little, but this is due to natural wear and tear, otherwise I have to say it’s in pretty great condition. I bought mine from La Garconne in August last year – surprised to hear that yours is fraying. Perhaps you might want to contact Net-a-Porter about this, as it could be a flaw, it’s hard to tell without seeing! x

I’m with you there. I had to attend a few functions and realize that my wardrobe is beyond casual. So casual that I have nothing, and I do mean nothing that’s party worthy. I’ve never thought of pairing stripes and leopard print together but they’re both subtle and complement each other well.
