As of late, the amount of images stored on my pc containing girls dressed so effortlessly in a pair of skinny jeans and breton tops or loose knit jumpers has been proliferating at an incredible pace. Mostly, of course, due to my desire to look even half as effortless as they do, with their carefully messed up hair and the nonchalant vibe they seem to project. The result, well, a couple new pairs of jeans added to my wardrobe, and a renewed vigor with which to wear them.
I probably haven’t felt quite so passionately about wearing jeans since I was 15 or 16 years old, when a slight flare was the style du jour, which was then swiftly preceeded by the skinny jean, which took some time for me to warm up to. Having spent much of the past five years or so alternating readily between dresses and skirts for daily wear, it would seem only natural that I would finally throw jeans into the mix on a more regular basis. I suppose just another obvious example of style evolving, although it’s funny to note how quickly they can change, or revert back to perhaps something reminiscent of what you used to wear and for some reason thought that the moment had passed.
I’m anticipating that over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be overdosing on fashion, what with Wellington Fashion Week starting next Wednesday, and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia the following week in Sydney. In light of these two fashion-centric weeks, I finally got around to creating a Facebook page with an aim for a bit of up-to-the-minute blogging, which I hope that in the moment, isn’t forgotten. Also, as my last trip to Sydney was approximately 10 years ago, any recommendations on where to eat and shops I should see are welcome! x
