Shop my wardrobe

I’ve made a few half-hearted attempts to KonMari our home, and short of throwing out Luke’s old shoes (and hoping he won’t notice, I thought it was time to tackle my own closet. It’s been a while since I’ve combed through my wardrobe with fresh eyes; and with a little bit more downtime than I knew what to do with this morning, I found myself sorting through what I’d be keeping for the new year ahead.

So if you’d like to shop my wardrobe, or are just curious to see what has left my closet, then head on over to my Tictail store (here!) to find a little Lover, a little Karen Walker, and a few pairs of shoes that I’m already feeling the guilts about parting with.

You are getting rid of your lemon dress?! So you! Interested in why you picked what you picked to let go of – I’m to the point with my wardrobe where I’m not getting rid of the easy stuff, but rather some nice things I simply don’t use (bags, mainly). I read a bunch of minimalist/fashion blogs, but I think of you as my highbrow minimalist read so I’d love to hear more about your selection criteria. Happy New Year!

Hi Amy – while I enjoyed the dress, I decided that I would let go of everything that didn’t really spark joy, and to be completely honest, I’ve been feeling a little bit ‘off’ about a lot of my closet; sometimes I think it would be nice to just start afresh.

I tend to prefer to wear block colour mostly over prints, and I think this is attributable to my mum, who HATED prints of any sort unless it was on a scarf. I feel fortunate to have the pieces I own, and I felt like my wardrobe had blown up a little bit and wanted to cut down on the amount that I had; you can only wear so much, and sometimes it is time to let things go.

I’ve been in that position that you are for some time now (for the most part), and I’ve just been trying to go back to Marie Kondo’s words as I find that they are the most helpful in deciding whether to keep something or not. I actually just made the decision this weekend to part with my Lover red lace serpent dress, which has been a treasured piece for years, and it was a hard one to make, but I felt it was time.

Also, I just wanted to say thank you so much for your lovely comments – that’s really sweet of you. Happy New Year to you too! xx

Unfortunately it already sold! AH and tell me about it!! Am only parting with these pieces as paying for my wedding later this year, and a trip to Italy for Luke’s brother’s wedding in July comes before my wardrobe, otherwise I’d be hanging on to a lot more.
