2017 so far, has been the year of the jean for me; a mere three months in and it’s single-handedly become one of those wardrobe staples that I can’t help but get excited about – this coming from the girl who little over six months ago, had just a pair or two to choose from on those cold and lazy winter weekends. As I’ve started to ‘relax’ my wardrobe, I’ve found myself reaching for my (growing) stack of denim for more than just a casual brunch at Bread & Circus; it’s extended to the office for casual Friday’s, and has become my go-to if we’re planning to head out for dinner.
Part of what has really had me gravitating towards denim is just how versatile it is – by just swapping one pair out for another, whether it be a change in the style or the wash of the denim.
For day, I keep things really simple with a cotton tee (I love this Stussy one I recently picked up from Glue Store) and some mid-wash denim with a frayed hem, with minimal make up to match. It’s started to become a real uniform for me, which I’ll pair with some heels if I’m trying to dress up my look a little. This is a look that definitely takes me back to my high school days, and I’ve been loving just how easy it is, especially as we start to shift into autumn.
For night, depending on the season I love to throw on either a pair of white skinny jeans, or a pair in an indigo denim wash with a high rise waist, and pair it with a strappy little cami, like this one from Hansen & Gretel, which I love for the pleating throughout the body, and the tie straps on the shoulder. I’ll amp up my make up game with either a smokey eye, or a bold red lip – my accessory of choice – and a pair of strappy sandals or an embellished court shoe.
