Bit of pep

Glassons peplum top (similar), American Apparel black l/s top, Sretsis skirt, Vintage boots, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag, Marc Jacobs katie bracelet & House of Harlow bangles

I don’t often buy into trends, opting instead to buy pieces that complement my current wardrobe. So when I do, I’m usually a latecomer, warming up to a trend with constant exposure before I decide to try it out for myself, with my hesitant approach to the peplum top being no different.

I was lucky enough to spot this black beauty at one of our local chainstores, and while excessive, I admittedly am considering getting it in the white also. The heavier boucle style fabric is perfect for the Wellington climate, and allows for easy layering. I’m not quite sure why I waited so long, as it’s a style that fits quite seamlessly into my wardrobe, as though it always belonged. Are you a fan of the peplum?

Still loving this skirt. I have been wearing peplum style dresses (Sretsis) for a few years and find it a very flattering style that highlights the waist. I also bought the navy and bug print peplum collared blouses from Karen Walker last season – so cute. Weird how this trend has suddenly exploded but unlike a lot of trends I think it’s a style that suits anyone and is fairly conservative, so I hope it’s a look that will stick around.

I love this! I’ve never really been into peplums, but with a skirt like that it looks really great; the peplum hem isn’t so “out there” heh 🙂

    Have a lovely weekend!
