The Cabas tote

celine black leather cabas tote bag with gusset

Equipment sleeveless blouse, Helmut Lang blazer, Ellery skirt (similar style), Celine cabas tote bag (cheaper alternative)

This year truly has been the year of the wardrobe hero; the holy grail of bags, shoes and leather jackets. My focus has heavily been on building up the foundations of my wardrobe, which has generally meant quality over quantity. So why settle, right? Which might go some way in explaining how I ended up with a Celine cabas tote in my arms, a rather unplanned upgrade for my tan Cuyana tote which I’ve been dragging out rain or shine.

I might not be able to sling this one over my shoulder, but it’s certainly an everything but the kitchen sink kind of bag. There’s room for a back up pair of shoes (which, lets face it, I’m not really walking to work in 4 inch high heels), magazines, my diary and notebooks, a scarf, umbrella and a few chocolate bars; need I go on? It’s not quite a knock-around bag (I mean, what Celine is?); although it more than makes up for any perceived shortcomings in sophistication, workmanship, and quality. Maybe there is some method to my madness..

Your skirt is so so lovely, really great outfit! And I totally understand the ‘quality over quantity’ and the building of foundations. I so need some good shoes and bags, and though it is expensive, it is so worth it in the end!

I agree – you get SO much more wear out of it. For example, the blazer in this photo I bought over 3 years ago and I remember thinking it was a huge price to part with, BUT, I’ve worn it so so much since buying it (at least 100 times, probably more) as it works for every occasion. And thankfully, it still looks pretty new!

I have the horizontal version of this bag, it’s just so perfect although definitely not a knock around bag as you say.

That is such a gorgeous bag. The zipper deets are just perfect and I’m sure you’re going to be carrying it forever. Awesome buy! And I’m completely with you on the quality vs quantity thing always.

I was fortunate to purchase it off a friend who had recently been in Europe; but given it’s Celine, the price tag is pretty high (depending on your budget of course!)
