Head over heels for the mule

If I had to pick one shoe that has really tugged at my heart strings this past year, it has hands down been the humble mule. Effortlessly chic (in that cool, Parisian kind of way), they’ve become my go to for the office, for lazy weekends spent pottering around the house, and for nights out; there just isn’t another shoe that I can slip on quite so easily, and be out the door in a flash (which honestly, most days I’m usually on the cusp of running late!).

If we’re counting – and I usually don’t – my mule and slide collection is currently pushing 10 pairs, and with my sights set on a punchy tangerine pair (also this pair from Dear Frances conjures up all kinds of goodness), it clearly shows no signs of stopping any time soon. Every girl has her weakness, and as much as I try and keep my wardrobe as tightly edited as possible, a new pair of shoes is something I just can’t seem to resist. It’s not often that I fall for a trend this hard, and thankfully down to the minimal silhouette and easy-going nature of the mule, it seems like they’re currently here to stay – and my wardrobe’s not complaining.

So in an ode to the mule, I’ve picked out some of my current favourites from around the web which you can check out below! x

Yaaasss on slides/mules!! Could not agree with you more. I purchased a couple by Charles David recently. This is not a brand I’ve worn in years but on a whim tried them on at Nordstrom Rack and immediately fell in love.

They make both flat (Slider) and block heeled (Brindle, sale version of Brie) mules in black leather and various suede shades. The flats and block heels are both buttery soft, stylish, comfy and true to size.

I have the flat versions in peach suede and truffle suede. This is not an ad and I don’t work for them but just want to share a relatively reasonably priced option (on sale). I’m debating on getting the block heels in black leather but I’m attempting to go on a spending freeze. So difficult! I know I would kick myself if they sold out, though. Century 21 carries the flats for less.

    Love your impeccable style!!

No it’s absolutely great to get your feedback on a brand that I’m not at all familiar with. I just bought a couple pairs of shoes from Nordstrom as I felt I was missing a few pairs of winter shoes (I get a little crazy for suede shoes and sandals – not the best when it rains!) but I am heading to the US next week so I might have to have a peek then x

LOVE mules – I just bought a basic black pair from Mischief a few months ago. I felt a bit hesitant buying them bc it’s all my mum wore when I was growing up but now I see why! They’re so comfortable! And functional!

YES!!!! Those sound absolutely perfect. I’ve got a couple of cheapie low heel pairs from ASOS which have been solid choices for over the summer here and so comfortable.
