Items I own on sale (Black Friday 2021 edition)

Items I own on sale in the Black Friday sales

For those of you planning to shop Black Friday & Cyber Weekend, I wanted to share a bit of a curated edit. I like to think of these sales as either a great way to extend your holiday gifting budget; or a time to look at stocking up on some much needed wardrobe essentials. So I wanted to run through some of the items that I own on sale, which I think are worth spending on.

Pictured above is the mīere Frankie knit, which is currently discounted 30%

CLOTHING, SHOES & ACCESSORIES

Everlane Authentic Stretch High Rise Skinny Jean | Okay, I had to start with these. While Gen Z might think skinny jeans are “out”, for me, they’re still a big part of my closet. Trends come and go, and I tend to focus on what makes sense for my personal style. I can’t rave about these jeans enough. I wear them every single week without fail. Often more than once; the denim is mid-weight and sturdy, but they’ve got an incredible amount of stretch. Despite that, they haven’t given or sagged anywhere. They come out of the wash perfect every time. Fits true to size; I wear a size 26 ankle.

Madewell Courier Shirt | One I often tend to mention, but it’s worth hyping up again. This short sleeved, drop shoulder shirt is great. The fabric has a soft, loamy feel to it that gets better with wear. And being a basic white shirt, it of course goes with everything. I’ve had mine more than five years now, and it’s still going strong. I wear the size XS (it runs a little large) but would say you could also go with your usual size if you’re after something super billowy.

Oliver Cabell Dream Flats | If you’re after just one pair of well made, comfortable and hardwearing shoes, I can’t recommend these enough. I’ve walked hundreds, if not thousands of kilometres in my dream flats, and they still look fab. They have a rubberised sole so that gives you grip but also isn’t going to wear down in a month. I also love the pebbled leather; this helps to disguise little nicks and scuffs – reasonable wear and tear that you’d expect with shoes. Also, perfect if you have wide feet. I wear a size EU40/US9 and they fit true to size. Out of the box they might fit a little snug, but the leather gives after a few hours and gets more supple with each wear.

Marle Ardi Dress | Easily one of my favourite Kiwi brands, and I was excited to see that the ardi dress is discounted 30%. This is such an easy throw on style, and can be dressed up or down depending on how you accessorise. I have the colour birch, which is a soft sand tone. It’s ever so slightly sheer so I wear it with skin toned undergarments. It also comes in black – a little more kid-friendly and also fully opaque. The quality of the linen is beautiful. Rich and thick with lots of texture. I wear the size NZ8.

Madewell Plaid Flannel Track Trousers Review

Everlane Diamond Stitch Cloud Crew | Usually I’d reserve posts like this for items I’ve owned for a good few months, but I had to talk about this knit. Mostly because it’s fast become one of my favourite styles from the brand. As someone who wears mostly neutrals, I appreciate the added texture from the diamond stitched effect, and it’s so soft and cosy. It’s a merino, cotton and alpaca mix so 100% natural fibres which I appreciate, but not itchy at all. A great alternative if you find their alpaca knits a little too tickly against your skin. I sized up to a medium, which I have both in the light charcoal and heathered ivory. Perfect neutrals, but it also comes in some punchier colours too if you want more of a “pop” with your outfit.

Everlane ReNew Long Liner | I added this to my wardrobe around the same time as the diamond stitch knit, and wanted to highlight it mostly because I think it’s such a great option for transitional months and winter. It’s a liner style, which means that it’s thin, easily packable, and great to throw on underneath a heavier-weight coat once it gets *really* cold. Personally, I love that. Clever layering, but with pieces that still look chic. I’m wearing the size S here and would say it fits TTS for a relaxed fit, though if you want a closer cut, go down one.

Ceres Life Oversized Stepped Hem Tee | Without a doubt, this is one of my favourite t-shirts to wear. Made from organic cotton, it’s a nice relaxed fit, and long through the body so a great option to pair with leggings, too. The stepped hem is great as it also makes it easy to do a French tuck without having any awkward bulk on the sides. I’ve just gotten this in the white, but the grey has been one of my favourites to reach for and usually makes its way into the laundry hamper once, if not twice a week. I wear a size S.

H&M Ankle Length Pants | You’ve heard me rave about these trousers ad nauseam at this point. So I’ll spare you the details. These pants are fantastic. I have them in two iterations – the fixed waist, and the zip fly with elastic which I’ve linked here. They wash well, wear well, and look more expensive than they actually were. At 30% off they’re an absolute steal. They fit true to size – I wear a UK8/EU36.

Madewell Plaid Flannel Track Trousers | Another newer wardrobe addition, but one that also bears mentioning. I’ve definitely started to prioritise comfort when shopping for my wardrobe, and these tick so many boxes. They look smart. A classic silhouette that’s tapered to the ankle with a button zip fly; but has all the hallmarks of a comfy trouser. Loose fitting through the leg, and an elasticated waistband. Sign me up. I’m wearing the size S here but also could wear the XS too.

Everlane Italian Leather Studio Bag Review
Quaint Josephine Coat Review
Cecilie Bahnsen Dupe

Everlane Italian Leather Studio Bag | Currently what I’m using as a “baby” bag, this is one of the hardest-working accessories I own. Typically stuffed full and squeezed under the pram, or dragged around on the floor by our 20-month-old, it’s withstood a lot. And still looks great. The quality of their bags is top notch, and I love that the smooth Italian leather just softens over time. Thankfully, I haven’t really had any issues with scratches either. I’ve shared a full review here if you want a bit more insight, but it’s a total winner.

QUAINT Josephine Coat | This coat has drawn so many questions since I first shared it on Instagram. And I can appreciate why. It’s a classic but with a twist. You have that striking contrast between the cool-toned beige wool, with the gingham print. Personally, I love this, and it’s exactly the type of piece I really appreciate having in my closet. And the quality is beautiful. It’s a nice, medium-weight coat. Feels heavier than my coats from The Curated (not quite as soft though!), and I like the relaxed fit. I wear it in a size S. Currently 11% off as part of their sale.

ASOS Quilted Smock Cami | Another new purchase (and one I just shared yesterday), but I wanted to give it another moment of appreciation. Because I think it’s a TOTAL hidden gem. Not to mention that it’s currently 80% off, with an additional 20% off at checkout (so it rings in at just over $10!). To me I just think this is such a fun party piece. As you can see, it looks incredible with a simple slip skirt. I’m wearing the AU8 here – all sizes are still available too!

Jewellery I own on sale

JEWELLERY

Missoma Pave Spike Earrings | I tend to hover between a statement earring, and something more delicate. On days when I want something that is a “finer” jewellery piece, I’ll often reach for these. I love that you can actually just remove the little pave spike charm for a basic hoop, too.

Monica Vinader Chain Link Bracelet | If you’re thinking you’ve seen me wearing this a lot recently, you’d be right. It’s that one piece that I seem to add on before I leave the house, for that wee bit of extra adornment on my wrist. Like with all the pieces I own from Monica Vinader, the quality is exceptional. I’m also a big fan of their Disco Ring.

Linjer Ilse Ring Luxe | I couldn’t talk about jewellery and not mention one of my favourite rings; the Ilse Ring Luxe from Linjer. Again another piece that I wear daily; it’s got some serious sparkle and brilliance, but doesn’t feel to loud or statement. Also, it comes from their Eco-Luxe range; a curated edit of timeless designs all featuring lab-grown diamonds. Love, love, love.

Mejuri Double Curb Chain Necklace | This is one of my go-to’s. When I want a minimal amount of “glitz”, but something that will make a basic cashmere crew feel more interesting, I’ll reach for this. I’ve had mine for well over a year now and it’s held up so well. One I’d happily replace if my current one ever went missing.

Glossier Review
Beauty Products I Own on sale

BEAUTY

To wrap things up, I wanted to mention four beauty brands which I am literally using on repeat, and highlight some of my favourite products.

Glossier | It’s been a while since I used any beauty products from Glossier, but I recently placed an order and have to say… I love everything I got. The stand out hero for me is ultimately the Cloud Paints; these are the most beautiful cream blushes. Heavily pigmented and give a nice flush to the cheek (I use Dusk and Beam). Also lasts all day long, and I like that it doesn’t move around on your face once applied. My other favourite was the FutureDew; this has fast become my makeup primer of choice. Leaves skin looking luminous and it’s a great base for makeup. They currently have 20% off site wide.

Necessaire | Probably my top favourite when it comes to body care. I adore their Body Washes (both the scented and unscented versions), but the Body Oil is my current HG. I use this after the shower and I swear I haven’t had to use any sort of lotion or moisturiser on my skin in months. Dries down fast and doesn’t transfer on to clothing. I have a cheeky discount for 10% off site wide; use code 10MADEMOISELLE at checkout.

Tarte Cosmetics | Tarte is a brand which has continued to impress me year on year. Their eyeshadows are superb; pigmented but not chalky and they blend out well. Plus the shimmers always pack a punch. I also am a huge fan of this hydrating serum – one of those skincare products I don’t like to be without. My latest “hero” from the brand is the Surfer Curl Mascara. This is one of the rare mascaras I’ve used which literally doesn’t smudge. My lashes look voluminous and get a bit of extra length, but I don’t have to worry about “maintenance” like I do with other brands. A must have. They’ve got 30% off site wide.

Laura Mercier | Finally, Laura Mercier, one of my other beauty loves. I’ve been used the Tinted Moisturiser Oil Free almost daily since it arrived in my mailbox. My complexion is glowing after I use it, and it gives me just the right amount of coverage, and my skin just looks like skin. They have 25% off site wide with the code CYBER25.
