Happy Friday everyone! I hope that the week has been treating you well. Today I wanted to share a recent outfit that I wore one weekend, before the autumn chill really started to settle in here in Sydney. My recent outfits have been a real mixed bag – I’m wearing everything from all black, to winter whites, and I have been enjoying the variety. I’ve also being layering it up a lot. The scarves are out, and my humble tees have become more of an accompaniment to a heavier piece like a thick jacket or an oversized sweater.

c/o Everlane air oversized crew tee, ASOS denim skirt (also love this), Isabel Marant belt, Workshop utility jacket (alternative here and I also love this one), Jaggar slingback flats (also here), Acne Studios canada scarf, Constellation bag (Prada version here), Linjer watch, Mejuri loop earrings

Before I get into the outfit, I thought I’d quickly touch on a couple of new pieces that you may have spotted… The first is a wardrobe basic; the Everlane air oversized crew tee. The team at Everlane kindly sent me a few things to test out and this was one of my picks. I love a good wardrobe basic and I didn’t have a black tee in my wardrobe without any bells and whistles, so this seemed like a good complement to what I already have sitting in my closet. I opted for the XS (I’m an AU6-8 for reference), and as you can see from the snaps, it’s pretty oversized on me. It feels a little bit like the t-shirt you’ve stolen from your boyfriend (or in my case – husband) due to the fit, so if you aren’t after something so oversized but want to try this out, make sure to go down one size from normal. The cotton on this isn’t as soft as the pima cotton, but it doesn’t feel rough against my skin, and it’s comfortable to wear. The thing I really like about it? The longer sleeve length. They look great as is, otherwise you could roll them up for a more nonchalant look.

The other new piece is pretty glaringly obvious; it’s the stunning velvet constellation bag that’s slung over my shoulder. I’ve had my eye on the Prada version of this bag for the longest time, but I just haven’t seen the stars and moon version anywhere – not to mention that the price tag is no drop in the bucket. Where I can, I quite like to try out a new style before I pull the trigger and invest a bit of money in it, and when I saw this dupe it seemed like a bit of a no brainer. My first impressions? The closure is quite fussy, though I like the structured shape and of course that gorgeous embellished detail on the front. At this stage, I can’t see myself springing for the designer version, but I think I want to take the time to wear it a little more before I decide for sure.

STYLING NOTES

01 | Layering it up
It’s finally sweater weather in Sydney, and while I don’t particularly like the cold, I’ve been relishing the opportunity to start layering up my looks. I’ve started to pull out my khaki military jacket from Workshop quite a bit recently (old but I adore this one, and this is also a great alternative), which has been such a fab throw on piece for many of my more monochromatic outfits – plus I’ve been enjoying the addition of some colour to my wardrobe too. My Acne Studios canada scarf is also back in heavy rotation; this is one of those investment pieces that I splurged on during my first year living in Sydney, and I haven’t had a single regret. I know that there are some more affordable options out there which will also do the trick (I hear COS have a great version), but this has been one of those wardrobe additions that was definitely worth the hype for me.

02 | Slingback flats
Slingbacks seem to be having a real moment right now, and I’ve been completely loving the trend. I’ve found it to be such a classic shoe style, and one that I can see myself wearing for years and years to come. The latest pair of slingback flats which have made their way into my wardrobe are this pair from Jaggar which I snapped up during the Shopbop sale. These are a major dupe for the Dior ‘jadior’ flats, but without the designer price tag (more designer shoe dupes are in this post!); I love the ribbon detail at the back, and the suede is super soft which makes these incredibly comfortable to wear. As an FYI, they fit true to size.

03 | Mixed proportions
I like to mix up the proportions of my silhouettes, as I find it makes for a more flattering – and also interesting – shape. While the top and jacket are on the looser side, it’s balanced out pretty nicely by the fitted denim skirt – an oldie but a goodie from ASOS. I’ve also nipped this in at the waist with a black leather waist belt, which gives a little more definition to the look.

Oooh I LOVE that bag!! I have a thing for stars and moons, hehe. That stinks that the closure is a little annoying!
Really liking the long sleeves of that Everlane tee! I buy the Everlane men’s tees a lot so I can get the longer sleeve, haha.

I’ve been loving pairing them with so many of my outfits – it’s kinda become my go to shoe of choice 🙂
