End of Summer break

Equipment blouse, Karen Walker skirt (similar) & sunglasses, Pointer x KW loafers, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag, Marc by Marc Jacobs katie bracelet

Summer holidays always seem to fly by so quickly, especially when you’ve been spoilt by beautiful weather. It feels like such a shame to be back at work today when the view from my office is sunny blue skies, making the temptation to head to the beach and soak up some sun during my lunch hour look pretty appealing.

I can’t help but be drawn to florals and punchy coloured skirts in the summertime, so have been wearing them at every opportunity paired simply with a white t-shirt or a sleeveless blouse. I’ve also been relishing a brief return to carrying around a smaller bag, namely my PS11, with only the essentials thrown in (wallet, keys, lip balm, sunglasses, iPhone and iPad), rather than lugging about a large handbag containing the contents of my entire life.

I ended up spending the last day of my “summer break” catching up with a friend, eating delicious salads, and doing a small cull of my wardrobe, as I identified pieces I felt were obsolete or seldom worn. It’s like starting the year on a clean slate, with a wardrobe full of your favourite things, which in my case, is looking like a slowly-growing garden of luscious Lover lace – which, can only be a good thing, right?

is there anything better than a white sleeveless shirt in summer? I don’t believe so. love this outfit soooo much, the print on that skirt is just divine and of course I’m seriously coveting your ps11… x

I’m not sure if you have, but Karen Walker had a number of knee length skirts for this season (now on sale), in fun bold prints that may suit for work? Otherwise I find that 3.1 by Phillip Lim always does a well cut skirt that is knee length, might be worth a look 🙂

How lucky have we been with this weather! And I totally understand the need for numerous lover pieces, I was just in Sydney and it was amazing to be able to see a whole collection up close instead of just the few pieces we get in Wellington.

Ah envy! I haven’t been to Sydney in years, and I really want to go just to be able to pick up some Lover from the store. I know you can order online/over the phone but it’s never the same!

I do love that skirt!! Such a pretty Summer look! 🙂 And yes, one of my favorite things about vacation is that I can just take my wallet, chapstick and phone with me everywhere (and maybe a few other things, haha)

Oh I love your skirt! The whole outfit looks terrific on you. So neat to see you enjoying summertime, as we are freezing in slushy snow and ice.

Argh, I had the KW top that came in the same fabric as your skirt, but I sold it on eBay during a very serious wardrobe cull and now I totally regret it, haha. I’ve been scouring eBay for another one since, but hardly anything from the North collection seems to turns up. Your skirt looks amazing!

I hate when that happens! I hope that one pops up sooner or later – I know this was a pretty popular print

Love your pretty ensemble, Jamie-Lee. I’m dying to break out in skirt, top and sandals. No more Michelin man layers. My family’s been raving about the incredible weather and their many trips to various beaches in Auckland. Let’s just say that I’m beyond envious.

Gorgeous outfit – love the pretty skirt (am currently obsessed with floral skirts). I need to do a wardrobe cull of my own – you’re right, it is like starting the year with a clean slate!

Oh it sounds like you had a great ‘last day’! I love your outfit as usual – the pairing of that crisp white blouse and skirt is such a pretty combination. Ah, I think I’ll have to add some KW pieces to my wardrobe soon! You wear them so well x
