Packing for a long weekend away

Today I’m flying off to Canberra, for a bit of a long weekend as my little sister is turning 21! For any trip, long or short, I have a wee habit of listing all the items I’d like to take with me, and cutting it down to the bare minimum. As my trip is only for three days, I’ve opted to take a small carry on rather than lugging about a bulky suitcase, meaning that I’m quite limited to what I can bring with me. Considering that I’m also still doing the thirty x thirty challenge, my wardrobe options are also rather limited.

In addition to a decent sized carry on, I’ve also opted to take a large handbag, with a smaller handbag for going out in the evening tucked away inside. This gives me a little more more room for packing, and while I’m not planning on doing any shopping, that extra room never hurts, even if it is just for snacks!

As with packing for a longer holiday, I can’t help but choose pieces which will work together easily, giving me a simple palette of cream, navy and black – while arguably “boring” is equally timeless. And while my sister assures me that it is hot enough to wear shorts, I find that weather is often more unpredictable than you would expect, so I’ve also made sure that I won’t be caught out should it get cold (as well as packing tights – of course).

While I would have liked to have taken one more pair of shoes with me, considering how much space they take up, I limited myself to two pairs, one pair of flats, and a pair of heels, allowing me to easily go from day to night. I’m also taking along my iPad so that when I have downtime I can read (currently on book 4 of the Game of Thrones series), as well as my camera to take some happy snaps.

Guess it’s almost about time to get on that flight, happy weekend!

GAME OF THRONES! I just finished Dance with Dragons and I can’t stop thinking about it! Can’t wait for the next one, not to mention the next series! None of my friends have read them so excuse my extreme enthusiasm for you mentioning the book 🙂

Also, have fun in Canberra! I’ve never been. I definitely feel like a holiday you lucky thing!

Packing is such a difficult task in my opinion. The items that you put together looks perfect~ Basic pieces that can go with lots of different outfits can never go wrong. Happy birthday to your little sister ^-^

Ooh are those a shorter version of the Alexander Wang boots? I love those! The cut away heel is so fun. I’ve been wanting them…

    The white skirt is perfection.

I was lucky – it was a little cold getting into Sydney but Canberra was relatively warm. I seemed to have shocked my family, my sister when she picked me up asked me where my bags were LOL
