The three pairs of shoes you need this summer

With sun dappled skies announcing that summer is well and truly here, it feels like it’s finally time to kick off those chelsea boots and slip my toes into strappy pair of sandals, which are only bound to come off as soon as my feet hit the sand. While I plan to run around barefoot as much as the warm weather allows, I’ll be keeping the following three pairs of shoes in heavy rotation, to see me through the summertime.

Porselli ballet flats purchased from My Chameleon and Pierotucci

//The ballet flat – Seaside holidays in the French Riviera; all breton striped tees and linen cuffed shorts, worn with one thing and one thing only, the classic ballet flat. Of course I’m referring to Audrey Hepburn, yet with temperatures seldom tipping over the 26 degree mark, there’s no reason why I won’t be gracefully tiptoeing along the boardwalk in my Porselli’s.

//The platform sandal – I’ve lost count of how many girls I’ve seen wearing a pair of caged platform sandals. Forever a glutton for embellishment, I stumbled across the above sandals and my only thought was, how quickly can these adorn my feet? They’re worlds apart from what I’m usually drawn to, but than in itself was half the attraction.

//The low-heeled sandal – Having spent most of the year tottering about in sky high stiletto heels, I’ll be giving the heels a break in favor of something a little more practical. I may be planning to spend most of my free time at the beach, but for those odd occasions where the dress code requires more than the quintessential kiwi jandals, I’ll be reaching for these low heeled sandals from Opening Ceremony (currently on sale too!).

Definitely agree with you on the ballet flats – a great, practical shoe! 🙂 Sandals are definitely a summer essential as well, but my third pair would be a pair of thongs, haha! Live in those in Queensland summers 🙂

I’ve never been big on jandals – I have a pair but they’ve mysteriously gone missing… Luke often uses them as they pretty much fit him (my feet are a bit big!). If I find them, they’ll come along for the ride but otherwise I’m a sandal girl through and through

I completely understand your obsession with ballet flats. I went Repetto mad for a few years and ended up with a closetful of them. I love caged sandals and I’m still trying to find a comfy pair but it’s sandals like your Opening Ceremony that get worn more because they’re so comfortable.

If you’re an EU37, they are currently on sale for $142 USD… which to me seems ridiculously cheap considering I paid full RRP less than a month ago (although last pair in my size so probably wouldn’t have made it that far). I ended up snapping up the higher version in the plum since I’m already getting so much wear out of these. You know when you’re onto a good thing…

PS. Yvonne Kone sandals are incredibly comfortable, although not sure if they’re a bit too high for your taste. I’ll be sure to mention it to you if I see anything you may like 😉

I don’t think you can beat a classic ballet flat! The ASOS sandals aren’t my usual thing either but they’re so beautiful…trying to work out if I can justify them but as I type there’s currently the craziest storm going on outside so maybe not! xxx
