Sezane Autumn Collection 2020: What’s in my cart

I can’t quit you. It’s a pretty accurate way to describe how I feel about Sezane. Every new collection that drops, I find myself convinced I have to have something; which if anything, it’s a clear sign their marketing team is doing something right. So I thought today I’d share what’s currently in my cart from the Sezane Autumn 2020 collection.

#1 | Sezane Ornella Jumper

First up is the “Ornella” jumper in the colour light camel. I was drawn to this piece because I loved the look of the fine pointelle design throughout, and the button detail at the cuffs. The latter of which felt like such a pretty design element. There’s also scalloping at the neckline, cuffs and hem; it’s subtle though, which I appreciate as it doesn’t make this sweater feel too girly. Clearly I’m still on that neutrals train. 

Other points of note? It’s made from 100% merino wool. I’ve purchased a couple merino wool pieces from Sezane in the past which I then returned because the fit wasn’t right. The quality however, was exceptional. Very soft and slinky, and hugged the body’s contours, while maintaining a bit of “drape”. I also like that the buttons are tortoiseshell. Gives it a bit of a vintage vibe. I was a little torn between this style and the Camila Jumper which has those atypical henley style characteristics.

#2 | Sezane Cleo Blouse

Keeping in mind that spring is in full bloom here in Sydney, I made note to look for any suitable pieces to see me through the transitional period. Or even better? Something that would work almost year round. The “Cleo” Blouse seems to strike that perfect balance. Aside from the trim, it’s 100% cotton, so breathable. Tick. The 3/4 length sleeves are good for both warmer and cooler weather (add a cardigan or jacket over top if it’s cool). Tick. And the lace trim and square cut back make it feel interesting. Tick, tick, tick. It’s styled on the website exactly the way I imagine wearing it. With blue jeans, or denim shorts.

#3 | Sezane Mia Jumper

Third on my list from the Sezane Autumn Collection 2020, is the “Mia” Jumper. I’ve been so drawn to cardigans of late. As a relatively new mum, they’re practical for nursing or just throwing over my shoulders if I’m feeling a little cold. That cinched ruffled detail on the wrist is literally what is selling this cardigan for me as it feels so unique. I also really love the mottled brown buttons. Again, they have a bit of an old world feel to them, and add a nice richness and warmth to the overall design. My only hesitation? I’ve had mixed experiences laundering Sezane knit pieces (the polyamide/kid mohair blended ones). Definitely going to be sitting on this one for thirty days, that’s for sure! A similar option that has a crew neck (rather than v-neck) is the Thelma Jumper.

#4 | Sezane Coline Boots

If you’ve been reading my blog for a  long time, then you’ll probably know I used to have this thing for shoes with a gold heel. Given my outfits have always been on the basic side, I always felt like this added a flashy touch. You know, elevated my outfit a bit. That’s how I felt when I spotted the “Coline” boots. I love the classic design, and the low block heel looks nice and walkable. But then there’s this little flash of gold, on the inside section of the heel. The ‘black’ leather are probably the ones I’d fine more versatile of the two, but I’m really drawn to the ‘khaki’, too. I think the pale gold plate is less of a contrast; it feels more… soft. I have bought one pair of Sezane shoes in the past, and I’m still a little confused on sizing. The espadrilles I bought definitely ran large (not the worst problem to have with boots), so still tossing up whether I take a chance with these.

#5 | Sezane Liberte Bucket Bag

And the final item sitting in my cart from the Sezane Autumn Collection 2020 is the “Liberte” Bucket Bag. What a stunning bag. I’m particularly smitten with the ‘mole’ colour; a sandy-toned suede with caramel leather trim. Details I like? The woven canvas strap.; this adds a utilitarian feel to the design. The leather and suede combo; mixing textures is a way to elevate an outfit and this does half the work for you. The pockets at the front; love that there’s a spot for throwing in small essentials like lip balm or receipts. It also looks like the strap length is slightly adjustable too, which is handy.
