Silk and Denim Styled Two Ways

There’s no hiding the fact that silk is such a key component of my year round wardrobe; it looks and feels expensive (even when it’s affordable!), has a lovely drape, and bonus points for the fact that it’s a natural fiber. Safe to say, I couldn’t imagine my wardrobe without it. So when Grana reached out and asked if I’d like to style up a couple of silky items from their new Summer collection, I jumped at the chance. Some of my favorite every day basics just so happen to be from Grana (I highly recommend their boyfriend fit tees, cashmere crew neck sweaters, and anything from their linen collection), and I like that they’re always pushing the boundaries as they reimagine classic silhouettes and wardrobe staples. For this post, I wanted to show you how I wear denim and silk two ways – it’s a classic combo that I reach for often as I find the pairing of a luxe fabric with a raw denim basic is a match made in sartorial heaven.

Look 1 | the wrap front blouse

I’m a big fan of anything in a silk/cotton mix; the fabric always looks and feels beautiful, with a nice drape plus I love the fact that it’s far easier to care for than a pure silk piece – something I have quite a penchant for. I decided to pair this wrap front blouse with a couple of more relaxed pieces in my wardrobe for my take on a weekend look. I try to keep my outfits smart regardless of whether my day is spent at the office among colleagues, or on the couch cuddled up with our trio of pets, and denim often ends up being a winner. This blouse has a different feel when worn loose – much more boho and relaxed – whereas tucked in it has a more professional vibe to it. Because I love a monochromatic look (and there’s nothing more chic that black head-to-toe), I paired it with a pencil style denim mini, and some two tone pumps.

For me this is the kind of top that would pack well for a summer vacation – especially if you opted for the ivory. I can just imagine it worn poolside as a little cover up over your swimsuit, plus it would look cute tucked into a pair of high waisted shorts once you’ve gotten enough sun, or tied at the waist and paired with a maxi length skirt to show off a little bit of midriff.

Look 2 | the silk cami

Wearing Grana Silk Cowl Back Camisole, RE/Done skinny jeans

I like to think of a silk cami as being one of the more hard working essentials in my wardrobe. They’re an absolute must for me during the summer months – particularly given my 45 min walk to work each way – as they pair so effortlessly with smart tailored trousers or a pencil skirt, and transition well from desk to dinner. But, I reach for them just as often in the cooler months. They make for a great layering piece underneath oversized knit sweaters or with a heavy wool blazer, but they’re also a standout on their own.

This ivory silk cami has some lovely little design details which set it apart from anything else in my wardrobe; the v-neckline in the front, spaghetti strap cross over detail at the back, and cowl back detail make this a complete standout in my eyes. This is the kind of top that I would pair with a wide legged trouser and strappy sandals in the summer for cocktails with the girls.

Denim has formed the backbone of so many of my outfits – it’s such a versatile fabric – and I love how it tones down the dressier vibes of this elegant cami. Slightly out of shot are the tan suede heels on my feet, and when heading out of the house I’d throw a black or camel-hued blazer over my shoulders just to show I mean business.

The Sunny Sale

We might be smack bang in the middle of winter here in Sydney but I’m sure I’m not the only one dreaming about my summer wardrobe already. Grana are currently holding their Sunny Sale where you can get up to 70% off luxury essentials across both summer and winter items; it’s a great opportunity to stock up on some warm weather basics while also snapping up a couple of winter warmers on sale.

Some of my favourites include this classic poplin shirt (half price at $48), their v-neck silk cami (down to $58), this lenzing modal dipped hem tee (half price at $25), and this striped long sleeve top (half price at $21).

If you’d like to snap up some of their newer styles, you can still get 10% off your order plus free shipping worldwide using the code ‘JAMIExGRANA’ until the end of June.

Thank you to Grana for collaborating with me on this post.
