Everlane silk cami, Everlane GoWeave Crop Trouser in navy*, Max Mara heels (affordable sandal version here), Teddy Blake ‘carla’ nano bag (similar)

My typical Autumn work uniform looks a little like this: oversized silk cami or tank, a classic trouser that cuts off at the ankle, and a low pair of heels. Oh, and a blazer if it’s starting to get a little chilly.

Finding the right pair of trousers can be tricky – I know I spent years searching for what felt like a needle in a haystack – which is why I was excited to hear about Everlane’s latest launch, the GoWeave trousers. The team at Everlane very kindly sent me across a pair to road test and report back on, and I can say that aside from running large, I think that these are a great option for the girl who likes a loose, classic fit, a la gamine.

These were (excitingly) the first pair of trousers that I’ve had the opportunity to try on from Everlane, and I was surprised by how large they fit. I’m typically a size AU 6-8 and take a size 25 in jeans, so I opted to try these in the US4. Big. Mistake. You probably can’t tell, but I’m wearing these very tightly belted at the waist; they run approximately one size large. I usually will go for the bigger is better option (no one wants to order something only to find it fits small…), but in this instance, I wish I’d gone for the US2.

For reference, the US4 measures 40cm across the waistband lying flat, approximately 51cm across the hip lying flat, and the inseam measures 68.5cm long.

Q U A L I T Y
Like everything else I own from Everlane, the quality of the GoWeave crop trousers is exceptional. The fabric, which upon appearance looks like a lightweight wool, feels smooth to the touch and doesn’t have any unwanted scratchiness. The material itself, the GoWeave, is designed to be wrinkle resistant and temperature regulating; but I should probably be clear, this isn’t to say that you should scrunch them up (I wouldn’t!) or throw them haphazardly into your suitcase if taking them travelling. They may be wrinkle resistant, but that doesn’t mean wrinkle proof – just to clarify. These have a great hang to them, and are certainly far more luxurious than one would expect for a pair of trousers that is going to set you back less than $150.

I probably shouldn’t be surprised, but like everything else, Everlane’s trouser game is strong.
