Zara black vest with grommet detail (similar here and also love this one), Kate Sylvester skivvy (similar here and also here), J Crew trousers, Tibi shoes, Linjer watch, ASOS sunglasses, 3.1 by Phillip Lim pashli satchel (also here)
One thing I’ve been seeing a lot of lately are grommet details; those oversized eyelets you see at the top of the vest that I’m wearing here, from Zara. Call it a bit of a micro-trend if you will, but I’ve been completely into it, and the subtle layer of detail that it adds to an otherwise basic sleeveless longline blazer (mine is a lucky find from Zara). Mostly, I’ve seen it on swimwear (Mara Hoffman’s swimsuits are just gorgeous!), and on the hip of skirts like this one, adding an edgy element to simple silhouettes.
I decided to go for an all black look, which seems to mostly be my color palette of choice now that the weather has cool down. I threw the vest over a simple merino wool skivvy – mine is a few seasons old but this one from Uniqlo is an excellent alternative – some fitted trousers, and a strappy sandal.
By the way, if you’re thinking of picking up a pair of J Crew’s martie pants, I’d consider sizing down as with most things that I’ve bought from there, I’ve found that they run on the larger side. For reference I’m wearing mine in a size 00, and I’m typically a 24 or 25 in jeans depending on the brand (talk about vanity sizing, right?!).
I’ve picked out some of the pieces that I’ve seen floating around the internet with the grommet trend that I have been loving lately, which you can shop via the carousel below. Will you be adding any grommet details to your wardrobe? x
PS. I have a couple of sale alerts for you. If you haven’t seen, ASOS currently have 20% off EVERYTHING using the code ‘SWEET’, and you can get 40% off selected items from The Iconic using the code ‘PICKME’. You can thank me later….!
