This long weekend has been mostly about taking. things. slow. Falling asleep on the couch at 9.00pm, having a glass of wine or rum and coke as a mini night cap, nipping out to catch the last of the afternoon sun, and taking Nigel on some long leisurely walks (Charlotte, on the other hand, is most certainly going stir-crazy! Just two more days ’til her stitches come out).

Unsurprisingly, I did manage to squeeze in a couple of new purchases, using the holiday as an opportunity to pick up some new wardrobe staples from Everlane and Brandy Melville, in addition to stocking up on some beauty essentials that I was running low on. Even though my bookmarks are littered with pairs of shoes I probably don’t need, I’ve been trying to take my own advice to shop slow, and take my time picking my Autumn/Winter five. First off the rank – and nabbed during a 20% off sale! – is this navy skirt from Lover; it was love at first sight, what with the gold rivet and mock rope detailing at the waist and universally flattering a-line style, and it’s already become one of the first pieces I reach for as I’m getting ready for work each morning.

Last year, I found myself buying mostly wild cards, this year, I’m trying to be a little more measured in my approach, opting for things which are sartorially timeless but have an interesting detail that’s hard to look past, which is a little harder to find than you might think!

That skirt is seriously attractive….rivalling the Josh Goot skirt as my favourite in your closet! I’m totally loving the whole shebang, very French, very chic and one of my favourites of yours.

I notice that the blouse is dry clean only. Do you dry clean after every wear or have you risked a hand wash? You look truly lovely in this outfit!

Hey Jo! Usually I would dryclean after about 3-4 wears, although I recently popped it in the wash. The only issue is that it damages the integrity of the silk. I still need to steam or iron it so I’m hoping that the brushed silk effect will return however just as an FYI I used to always throw mine in the washing machine on cold/gentle x

Thank you so much Rai! I think Easter is kind of the best opportunity to do so – who doesn’t love a super long weekend! 🙂
