Autumn Outfit #3: Oversized white cardigan and black denim skirt

Jamie Lee of Mademoiselle wearing Sezane Augustino Sweater and ASOS denim skirt

I’m not sure if it’s a hangover from my maternity capsule wardrobe, but I’ve found myself reaching for the same small selection of items on the daily. It brings to mind that oft-quoted saying that we wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time. Because right now, that’s very true of how I’ve been getting dressed daily.

Wearing Everlane pima cotton tank, Sezane Augustino sweater (there’s also a cotton version here), ASOS denim skirt, Veja Esplar sneakers (also here), Linjer Lana bag, Laura Lombardi earrings, Fedoma Jewellery necklace

Again, I’m wearing that creamy cardigan from Sezane. As I mentioned in this post, it’s far from perfect, and I’m almost wishing that I’d held out a month longer to buy this cotton version instead. But it’s cosy, isn’t actually as scratchy as I’d initially thought (though I do wish it felt softer against my skin), and has been an easy throw on piece which is practical when nursing.

I decided to wear it with an old faithful in my wardrobe; a denim mini skirt from ASOS. I’ve had this a good three years or so now, and it’s yet to fail me. Because there are no bells and whistles to it, the skirt serves as a blank canvas, pairing effortlessly with whatever I throw on with it. The skirt seemed like a good choice as it has more of a fitted silhouette; a good juxtaposition to the relaxed fit of the cardigan.

You can’t really see my shoes in this pic, but I finished off the outfit with a pair of sneakers. I’m currently testing out around 7 pairs of sneakers for a new series I’ve got planned for my YT channel, and have been enjoying the casual vibe that they add to my outfits. It helps that they are super comfortable, too.

Hi there! Can you remind me what size you have in the asos skirt? Also does it stretch out in wear? I seem to be borderline on size and am debating whether to keep the looser 4 or size down to the 2 since itโ€™s 100% cotton. Thanks!

I have it in the UK8 – when I bought it I was a 25 in jeans, and found that there’s a little bit of room around the waistband, but the fabric doesn’t give so best that it fits nicely at the hip. I find the extra room at the waist great if I want to tuck in a big sweater ๐Ÿ™‚
