Bathroom Renovation Plans

I feel like I’ve been talking about renovating our bathroom since Luke and I settled on our house back in May, but after months of planning (and saving), we’re finally at the point of locking in the job. We have an older, 1950s style house, and while we’d considered completely reconfiguring the current bathroom, we’ve decided for convenience, to keep the bathroom and adjacent toilet (/powder room) as is.

We’ve gone down the more conservative route with our design choices, opting for hexagonal carrara marble tiles for the floors, subway tiles for the inside of the shower and the ‘power room’ walls, and a marble penny tile as a feature in the shower recess. Much of this has actually been based around our vanities, which we purchased a couple weeks before we moved into the house. They’re slightly masculine, in a deep mahogany hue, and as we’re going with matte black fixings, we wanted to keep the rest of the space feeling light and airy.

I’d like to say we’re 2-3 weeks away from getting the job started, and honestly, I can barely wait. For those of you thinking about doing a home (or bathroom) renovation of your own, I figured it would be nice to share our own experience so, I’ll be vlogging the renovation from start to finish, in addition to talking through the before and afters here in pictures.

Perhaps the saving grace of this whole experience? I discovered our exterior toilet has a shower on the wall…!

Ooh so exciting! I can’t wait to see the process!
The renovations we would do at our house are a bit bigger than a bathroom (we’d want to expand the kitchen into the dining room) so it will have to wait quite a while if we decide to do it, ha ha.
