It was in 2018 that I really began to embrace a love of denim. So much so, that I found denim became a major year-round staple for me, and I wasn’t generally reaching for much else. I’ve been trying to do a bit of a 180 and branch out a little, and naturally, a good pair of trousers felt like the obvious alternative. The ones I’m wearing were a steal from TopshopLINK; they’re your typical peg leg style; fitted at the waist, with a bit of give throughout the leg, and a tapered ankle. For my silhouette, these are one of the flattering styles of trousers I’ve found, plus you can’t beat the high street price tag.

Good quality comes at every price, but more importantly, I try to build my wardrobe around items that I’m going to have for a long time, regardless if they’re high street or high end. I’ve mentioned this before, but tailoring is one area of my wardrobe where I know you can seriously save, as the high street does trousers and blazers so well. I’ve been on a bit of a trouser obsession, so today I thought I’d share my favourite trousers picks under $100.

The New Neutrals

Creamy beige and caramel tones are huge this season, and I totally get the appeal. It brings a bit more dimension to those ‘winter whites’ (especially for my friends in the Northern Hemisphere), and it’s a fresh change to the classic black pair most of us will have tucked away in our wardrobes.

Go Big or Go Home

I’m probably most adventurous with my trouser picks, opting for a petal pink pair and a shiny silver pair (the gold are also gorgeous), which help to bring an element of surprise to my outfit when I wear them. A bold hue can have a serious wow factor, and really shine when it’s the focal piece of your look.

The Classic

While I think that wardrobe “must haves” should be taken with a grain of salt, I wholeheartedly believe that a great fitting pair of black trousers are a wonderful piece to have in your closet. They’re so versatile, a great building block – especially for the office – and they never go out of style.

The Printed Pair of Trousers

To round things out we’ve got the printed trouser, which to me, can be just as classic as a black pair. It’s all about the cut and the actual print you’re going for. I personally love a classic pinstripe or check – they come back around season after season, though polka dots and florals can be fun too if you’re more daring than I am.
