Do you ever feel like you’re in a bit of a style rut? It’s only natural… right? You’ve identified your style, you’ve got your daily uniform all figured out, and your favourite staples on rotation. I always find it’s when that ‘same-same’ mentality starts to creep in, that I begin feeling dissatisfied with what I’m wearing. I start asking myself if my outfit is too similar to what I wore the day before, if I should be experimenting with my wardrobe more, or if I need to inject something fun to spice things up. The answers come pretty quick too. Perhaps, but does it matter? Only if I want to, and my wardrobe probably has enough ‘fun’ style pieces as it is.

Wearing Frame Denim top (old but love this one), Everlane high rise skinny jeans, Vaneli two toned pumps (also here), The Curated camel coat, Isabel Marant belt (also here), Celine trotteur bag (also here), Holly J earrings, Missoma molten necklace

This outfit is a case in point. I wore a pretty similar look not too long ago – when I find something I like, I generally stick with it. And if it’s a timeless pairing, that’s even more reason to keep going back to it.

I’ve usually found that just taking the time to look at my closet with a fresh set of eyes is enough to get out of any style rut. I’ll scroll through the saved photos on my Instagram to get some style inspiration, and I’ll experiment with some outfit combinations that I’ve maybe not been game enough to throw on.

Accessories can be a total game changer too. I personally am partial to a good pop of colour, whether it’s an earthy toned neutral (bound to go with most outfits), or a Parisian-inspired pop of red. And don’t forget jewellery. I love a good loud hoop – something that is oversized and ‘spicy’, but still a classic piece you could wear for years.
