Fenty Beauty Review

I’m always a little late to the game when it comes to trying new products. I like what I like, and tend to stick to it. But, after hearing so much about one of Fenty Beauty’s latest launches – the Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint – I got curious. So I put in a few requests to try out some products which caught my eye and I could see myself using on repeat. It’s been over a month since adding these products into rotation, so I figured a good a time as any to share a download on my thoughts.

I’ve applied all these products to my face, along with: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base; Laura Mercier Caviar Volume Mascara; and Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil.

And because a transformation is always helpful, below is a little before and after, so you can see both how my face looks post-skincare and pre-makeup.

FENTY BEAUTY EAZE DROP BLURRING SKIN TINT

What is it? A light coverage blurring skin tint available in 25 shades, that is humidity, sweat and transfer resistant.

Let’s start with why I was so curious to try the Eaze Drop Skin Tint. I can’t even count on my fingers the number of times I saw it compared to the It Cosmetics CC Cream; you know, my ride or die, holy grail base. My only niggle is I find it a little too full coverage for those lazier days where I just want to even out my complexion. And this launch from Fenty sounded like it might just tick all the boxes.

For application, I’ve tried both with a brush and my fingers, and prefer the latter. Whenever I used a brush, it felt like the tool was soaking up all the product, so I kept having to go in for more. I also found getting a perfectly blended finish didn’t feel quite as effortless… though maybe that’s more down to my technique.

Texture wise, it’s quite watery; I’ve seen it compared to the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in that respect and would agree. What I like about that is it makes it really easy to spread the tint all over the face. Plus it’s buildable, so you can layer up without it looking like it’s caked on. I found that usually I needed to give the product a few minutes to mesh in with my complexion for more of a natural/blurred effect.

Complexion looks radiant, and not shiny. I found applied on my oily/combo skin, the Eaze Drop Skin Tint has a satin finish. Coverage is more on the light to medium side. You can probably see from the images above that it’s done a good job of evening out my complexion, and lightly concealing blemishes and darkness under the eyes. If you need more coverage than that, then you’ll need to go in with a concealer too. I love that in addition to a generous shade selection, there are warm, cool, and neutral undertones available (perfect if you have olive skin like me).

Wear is pretty good, though I do find it will wear off a little so I’d either want to re-apply or touch up if I’m going out towards the end of the day. Doesn’t separate on my skin, even when applied in conjunction with, or over oil-based skin prep.

Final thoughts: Overall this is nice, but my It Cosmetics HG still takes the cake. I was given the suggestion to blend the two, which I’ll probably do on days where I want a lighter finish base.

FENTY BEAUTY SNAP SHADOWS IN 01 TRUE NEUTRALS

What is it? A mini palette with six eyeshadows in a mix of matte to shimmer finishes.

Neutral eyeshadows are my jam. I’ve tried pops of colour, but always find it hard to balance the right shades out with my olive complexion. A good thing a neutral eye look will never go out of style.

I really loved this concept; mini six-pan eyeshadows that you can easily mix and match for your own customised palette. They just snap into place when you line two of them up at the back.

Straight off the bat, I knew I would love this. The formula is soft, creamy, and incredibly easy to blend out o the eye. Since this palette arrived, I haven’t touched another eyeshadow. For an everyday look, I use a mix of Nookie Rookie all over the lid (a pale nude cream); Cumin Get It in the outer corner and through the crease (a deep brick red-brown); and Simma Down patted on the inner corner and centre of the lid (a shimmery rose gold).

I like the pigmentation level too. For me it is just right. You can easily go softer on the eyes, and build up the colour (what I do with the darker shades), or go all in and be a bit more heavy handed with the lighter shades.

The colour story is well balanced; you have a good mix between function base and crease shades and shimmers, as well as tones from light to dark. And I like that even with one single palette, you’re basically set from day to night.

Final thoughts: If you’re on the hunt for a new eyeshadow palette, grab two of these and snap them together. You’ll have zero regrets. Trust me.

FENTY BEAUTY FLYLINER LONGWEAR LIQUID EYELINER

What is it? A water-resistant liquid eyeliner with an innovative flex tip.

I’m that girl that wears eyeliner daily. Even on my off days. As far as beauty routines go, it’s become a bit of a uniform, and I’m always on the market to try something new. The Flyliner came highly recommended to me as being easy to use, and a liner that wouldn’t budge.

And totally true on both points. This is intense black, and has incredibly longevity – far better than any other eyeliner I’ve tried to date. So waterproof is right. Removing it at the day’s end can be a little tricky. I find quite thick cream, balm or oil-based cleansers to be your best bit. Sometimes a double cleanse is necessary just to get rid of every last little bit.

One thing I have found with application is that it can be easy to go overboard. I can sometimes be a little hard and fast with my application – read: heavy-handed – but usually I can fix it up before the liner has dried down. The super fine point makes it easy to get a precise, sharp flick.

After a month of daily use I am finding that the tip of the nib – which is felted – isn’t producing quite as sharp a shape as previously. So perhaps drying out a little. But I find that eyeliner is generally a high use product for me, and one I need to replace relatively frequently as is.

Final thoughts: This is fast becoming my favourite liner – more so than my beloved “drugstore” Maybelline. Really impactful and I love that it doesn’t budge. My liner will look just as good at the end of the day as it did at the start. Big thumbs up.

FENTY BEAUTY CHEEKS OUT FREESTYLE CREAM BRONZER IN 01 BUTTA BISCUIT

What is it? A non-greasy cream bronzer.

You know me. I love a good cream face product. Aside from looking more natural on your skin, they’re also so much more intuitive to apply. No “tools” necessary. So of course the final product I really wanted to try was the Fenty Beauty Cream Bronzer

As it’s almost winter, I opted for shade 02 Butta Biscuit. I wanted a warm shade to use solely for bronze to warm up my skin, rather than as a contour to create shadow (safe to say my face is angular enough as it is).

This has a buttery texture to it. It warms up really nicely when you swirl your finger into the product – my preferred way to dispense it onto my face – and blends out seamlessly. I use a dense brush to work it into my skin, but you could also use your fingers too if you wished.

It’s really buildable. So initially, it’ll just add a natural bit of glow. Another layer will amp it up and give me sun kissed looking skin. The colour just seems to melt into your complexion, and it doesn’t feel tacky or sticky at all.

Final thoughts: Another fave, and one I’ve used daily for the past month. I like that there’s a mix of warm, cool and neutral undertones in the range, and that it’s easy to use (plus buildable). As with all cream face products, I’d need to top up if I planned on taking my look from day to night.

So that’s a wrap on my first impressions of the Fenty Beauty range. I hope that you found this review helpful, and would love to know if there are any other products from Fenty that you’ve tried and absolutely loved down in the comments below xx
