Home & Tech Christmas Gift Guide

Wrapping up with the biggest and most comprehensive category: home and tech. It wasn’t until I was beginning to map this out into sections that I realised just how overboard I’d gone. And it’s safe to say that this is only just scratching the surface.

So rather than waffle on, let’s just dive into the good stuff.

Puzzles & Games

Many of us are spending more time at home right now, so why not make the most of it? Leaning into that idea, I love the gift of a large puzzle, or a classic board game. The Cavallini & Co puzzles are really neat, and have a cool vintage feel to them. I have the astrology chart version above.

Candles

I always see candles as such an indulgence, and while I don’t often tend to buy them for myself, it’s a gift I love to give (and receive!). There’s beautiful scents at all ends of the price spectrum. My favourite go to is always Jo Malone. The candles have incredible throw and just fill a room. Their limited edition scents for Christmas smell divine; above is “frosted cherry & clove”. Palm Beach also have some really sweet mini candles which double up as Christmas ornaments!

Soft Furnishings

I tend to think of this as more of a “treat yourself” type of gift, but a nice woollen throw is a beautiful present and will come in handy during the cooler months, as we’re all snuggled up on the couch. Neutrals are always a good idea.

Mugs

One thing I’ll buy myself and Luke (almost) every year come Christmas time, is a set of beautiful mugs. We now have a really interesting collection, and it’s fun picking out a mug when you go to make a tea or coffee. My favourites over the years are usually from Anthropologie; I just love these bistro style mugs they have this year!

Glassware

For the entertainer, I love the idea of gifting some beautiful glassware. These rippled glasses from Ferm Living are such a luxury, and have a bit of a vintage feel to them. I know I’d be thrilled to find a set of these under the Christmas tree.

Servingware

If your recipient likes entertaining, you could also opt to gift them some beautiful serving ware. I like to go for wide flat (or deep) bowls, cheese platters, and serving spoons. My go-to is usually Country Road for wooden platters and serving utensils, In Bed Store for linen napkins, and again, Anthropologie for more “unique” options.

Tech

I’m a total nerd at heart, so this particular category is always a winner with me. If you just want to spoil yourself and inner child, I can’t recommend the Nintendo Switch enough. Spyro the Dragon is a total classic, and I’m fairly sure you can get Crash Bandicoot and Sonic, too. Other great tech gifts include a phone case (I personally love The Dairy – their armoured cases are epic, see above), Apple air pods, or a self-watering planter.

Vases & Trinket Dishes

Something ceramic, something pretty. An interesting or unique shaped vase is a lovely gift (even more special if it comes with a bouquet of flowers), otherwise to complement the jewellery gift guide I shared earlier, a lovely wee trinket dish for dazzling jewels is a perfect pick for the bedside table.

Bar/Cocktail

If your friends love to imbibe or consider themselves budding mixologists, perhaps you could get them some tools to further their skills. I love a little cocktail shaker set, otherwise there are some neat pre-packaged cocktail jars – just add liquor.

Books

Let’s wrap this up with some books. My favourites to gift? A beautiful coffee table book centred around fashion or architecture. Or a cookbook filled with delicious recipes. Some of the books on my shelf include (from L to R): The Illustrated World of Couture (Megan Hess); Dior Catwalk; Hiakai (Monique Fiso – an old school friend!); Community (Hetty McKinnon); The Beauty Chef (Carla Oates); Foraging Throughout Tasmania (Ali Hargreaves); and Salad Feasts (Jessica Elliot Dennison).
