Outfit: 30X30 Capsule Day 6

30X30 Capsule Wardrobe Minimal Style Marle Tommy Skirt

Considering how much black, white and grey I chose for this 30X30, I hope I can be forgiven for the plethora of monochromatic looks I’ll be wearing throughout the month. That’s if my current track record is anything to go by anyway…

I’ve been slowly cycling through all the jeans, trousers and skirts I included in my capsule. Out of habit, I know I tend to focus on a handful of items. Often, wearing the same piece a few days in a row. While I have no issue with that, I thought by concisely editing my wardrobe down to a small selection, I’d feel inspired by a little variety. So far, it seems to be working, and it’s pushed me beyond wearing jeans almost every single day.

To kick off the week, I ended up picking the fanciest skirt option I included; a silk midi from Marle. The New Zealand brand is fast becoming one of my favourites, for soft silhouettes and basics which feel special. I’d been wanting to upgrade my satin black midi skirt for a silk one for a while, and this ticked all the boxes. Bias cut, and a little bit different. The white silk layered trim at the hem being the major drawcard for me.

What I hadn’t anticipated when I received it was just how long it would be. It hit me below the ankles, so I made a point of getting it tailored tout suite.

Given I went for such a simple outfit, the contrasting hem is the highlight of this outfit. The first thing I’m drawn to, even when looking back on the few photos I took to document the look.

Again, I wore my beloved & Other Stories cardigan, which is looking to be a shoe-in as a most worn winter piece. There’s contrast here again in the difference of texture between the knit and skirt – though a little more subtle that than streak of white near my ankles. To complete things, I added black accessories, and mismatched earrings.
