Sezane ’21 Spring Collection: What’s in my cart

Sezane Spring 21 Collection Review

I’ve gotten into the habit of relaxing my 30 day shopping rule when it comes to Sezane. Their collections always inspire, and since they started offering free returns in Australia, I’ve begun to take more of a shop now, return later approach. I actually just picked up a few items from their winter capsule (a try-on and review will be going live on my YT channel tomorrow morning…!), but couldn’t resist daydreaming, and consequently adding a bunch of my favourites from the new Sezane ’21 Spring collection to my cart.

For anyone curious about how I approach “impulse” purchases, I find it helpful to step away from my computer for a couple hours before heading to the checkout. So, while I mull over my “must-haves”, I thought I’d share what’s currently sitting in my cart…

Sezane Rosa Low Sandals

I’m a little iffy on shoe sizing with Sezane, as the last pair I purchased felt a little on the large side. But, I absolutely love the look of the Rosa Low Sandals. The low block heel feels manageable – even while running around with a toddler – and I like that the strap is around the heel than across the foot. So much more flattering. The crackled gold leather is also gorgeous; metallics go with pretty much everything and can make a casual outfit look more dressed up. I feel like Sezane new collections always sell out super quick, so I can’t decide whether I take a gamble on the size, or order two sizes to be on the safe side…

When you have a wardrobe which is so heavily rooted in “basic” style staples like mine, most of your work is done. But to keep things interesting… well, that’s where I think it’s beneficial to inject statement pieces which can elevate an outfit. The Tania Top to me is case in point. For a start, I love the gold brocade. Feels almost like the type of thing you’d save for a special occasion. Then there’s the tiered ruffles. So cute, and would be perfectly paired with some long-line high waisted shorts (I’m thinking my St. Agni Ranger shorts in the camel…). The only thing I’m not 100% on is the fabric, which looks like it could potentially be a little irritating against your skin.

Sezane Jamy Dress

I’ve slowly been incorporating more prints into my wardrobe, but I have to say, this is a pretty bold choice for me. But it’s the silhouette that caught my attention. It reminds me a little of something you might get from Jacquemus or Isabel Marant, but with a Sezane flair. I’m drawn to anything that ties at the hip as I find it incredibly flattering on my frame. Also appreciated that it’s 100% organic cotton. This is one of the “maybes” in my cart.

Sezane Lea Shirt

There had to be at least one classic style thrown in there, and my pick from the Sezane ’21 Spring collection is the Lea Shirt. I personally am a huge fan of mandarin collar blouses, and this is a beautiful example. The devil really is in the details; the silk covered buttons, the ruching at the neckline, and the ruffle trim across the shoulders and at the cuffs. Probably my favourite pick of the bunch.

Florals for spring aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but micro-florals always feel perfectly appropriate for those “in-between” transitional season days. I’m not sure where my recent appreciation for all things green has come from, but it’s the dark green elements of the busy print that drew me to the Victoria Dress. I like the sleeve, which appears to have a slight “puff” at the shoulder, and the squared off neckline with buttons down the front. I get some real vintage vibes from this dress; another one of the maybes in my cart.

Tanks which cut across the shoulder feel really on-trend right now. And I get it. The shoulders are such a subtle, yet sexy part of the body to bare, and I also think these types of silhouettes are universally flattering. This is the type of effortless basic that I’ve really begun to hoard; practical for the Sydney heat, easy to style, and easy to care for. I probably don’t need another top like this on my closet, so currently mulling this one over.

Would love to know if you’re planning to buy anything from the new Sezane ’21 Spring Collection; let me know what in the comments below. And I’ll be sure to do a proper review of everything I did end up buying when it arrives. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! xx

These are lovely picks. I want the Jamy dress so badly, but can’t order – at least, not immediately. If you buy it and when it arrives, could you post pictures?? Actually, I’ll probably check back for reviews of all of these.

Hi Sophie, thanks so much! In the end I went with just two purchases, the Rosa Low Sandals, and the Lea Blouse. I’m secretly hoping that they’ll release the Jamy in a few other colours. I love the bold black/colourful print, but in the end felt I might not get as much wear out of it as it is quite the statement. I would keep an eye on the Sezane “tagged” section on Instagram perhaps a week from now, when people have received their orders. You might spot it there! xx

        Hello,
Love the Rosa sandals but not having owned a pair of Sezane shoes before, I wonder if they come up small. I have wide feet and can’t decide if I should order my size plus a larger one just in case. What’s your experience?

Hi Carol, sorry for the delayed response. They fit true to size for sure. I got the US9 (they do IT/US sizing for your reference), and they fit me perfectly. I have wide feet also and no pinching or squishing across the foot. Hope that helps! x

Hi Jamie! As a long time follower I have to say I am disappointed that you relaxed your 30day rule for Sezane and even considered purchase first, return later and buy few sizes and return 🙁

Returns are highly discouraged because usually brands prefer to bin/throw the returns rather than going through the hassle of rechecking back the items & updates to stock. Also returns mean higher carbon footprint in general (moreso for Sezane because it ships from Europe to Australia).

Hi Zara, thanks so much for your message, and I suppose I can understand how my comment might have sounded flippant. Obviously not my intention, and what I failed to note was that I usually study the lookbook in the days leading up to a new season launch so I’ve mulled it over for about 48 hours or so before buying. So the items I do add to my cart and go on to purchase, are usually ones I see having a solid place in my closet. In this instance, I only bought two pieces, and have kept them both, so no returns at all. As far as I’m aware, for a brand like Sezane, I highly doubt that they would be “binning” returns, especially given their promises to be more eco-friendly. I think this more applies to brands like Pretty Little Thing (can’t say that they do this for sure but if they did I wouldn’t be surprised IYKWIM), where the cost of managing a return outweighs the actual cost of the item (sad, but true with some of these fast fashion brands).
The start of the year is always one where I find myself battling against my shopping rules because of the personal/emotional struggles I have, and shopping is a vice for me. Clearly something I’m continuing to try and work on, but I’m a work in progress so will make mistakes along the way!
