The Frankie Shop bea blazer with Facade Pattern trousers

Today we’re chatting handbags. More specifically, the Sezane Milo Classic Bag; a mainstay of the brand, which recently got a modern update that immediately piqued my interest. The update was simple; the toggle closure (which felt a little too heritage for my usual style) was replaced with a brass clasp. Since adding it to my collection, it’s become something of a mainstay that I’ve found myself reaching for daily. And I wanted to give an update on wear and tear and overall thoughts. Let’s get into this Sezane Milo Classic Bag review.

What Fits Inside

I would consider this to be a small to medium sized bag. Ideal for day-to-day where you’re just carrying the essentials, and no more.

The interior of the Milo Classic bag is comprised of three compartments. Two slim compartments snuggled around a larger pocket in the centre (which also has a zip up pocket and two slip pockets). There’s also a slip pocket at the back of the bag; this is quite a tight fit and really best for receipts or transport card.

I use a small cardholder, but this is roomy enough to fit a full size wallet. It also easily contains my iPhone 14 Pro Max, a couple of lip balms, travel-sized moisturiser or hand sanitiser, key holder and separate car key fob, plus a pair of sunglasses.

Sezane Milo Classic Bag Review

Part of the appeal of this bag, for me, was the resemblance to Celine’s iconic box bag. To me, a style that will be forever timeless. The key difference here being the shape (more rectangular), and also the adjustable shoulder strap. Which to me, is one of the more underrated details about the Sezane Milo Classic Bag

It may not be clear from the images, but you can adjust it to multiple lengths with snap closures, allowing you to have two varying shoulder bag lengths, and a more generous crossbody length. Pragmatic and practical when you want to switch from a day of working to a day with your kids (where being hands-free is a must!).

Quality is exceptional. I love the crisp cotton twill lining which in black, will not get grubby (a bonus!). The shiny nature of the brass closure. That contrast stitching with its perfectly straight lines. Attention to detail that you’d expect at this price point, and that puts this up there with other mid-priced bags like Polene or Oroton.

I opted for the natural heritage leather, which I loved for the rich red undertones and classic feel. But also, as I felt the colour would patina and deepen more over time. Though unlike the snake print options, the vegetable tanned leather is delicate and soft.

You can see from the imagery that mine has already marked up with small indentations and scratches despite being fairly careful with it. One of the delights of a bag like this, that shows its age and how well loved it is. By contrast means you may feel it looks “worn” well before its time, despite having plenty of life left it in. For some this might be a dealbreaker at this price point, but it’s simply a matter of taste and preference.

I’ve been using the Sezane Milo Classic Bag a lot since it arrived on my doorstep. Overall, I’m thrilled. The colour seems to go with everything in my neutral wardrobe. Plus I love the practical size and structured style of the bag. For me, this bag is a total no-brainer. If you don’t like the aesthetic nature of visible marks and scratches but still eying up this bag, then you may be better to opt for one of snakeskin options.
