As much as I wishlist and plan out the perceived gaps in my wardrobe at the start of each season, one of the things I look forward to even more so is being able to pull out and fall back on some of those old favourites. I’m a huge believer in taking the time to invest in your wardrobe (and I don’t necessarily mean in just a monetary sense), as it leads to fewer, better, and longer lasting purchases in your wardrobe, assuming your style and preferences remain static, that is.

After reading one of Rebecca’s post on the a/w style pieces she’s looking forward to wearing again, I felt inspired to share some of my own spring wardrobe favourites that I can’t wait to put back into regular rotation, all of which I’d say would be very familiar to anyone who is a frequent visitor of my blog, or regular watcher of my YouTube videos. I’ve found my winter style has really come into its own this year, as I’ve identified a few styles that I find really work for me, but there’s no denying that I’m a total summer baby at heart. So, let’s jump into the six items I can’t wait to start wearing again…

01 | J.Crew white denim mini skirt
This was easily the most worn item in my wardrobe last spring/summer, and along with the next item, it’s probably the one that I’m anticipating I’ll get the most wear out of over the next 6 months or so. Because it’s such a simple staple piece, it creates a blank canvas for anything you want to pair with it, plus I found that it looked great dressed up or down. For something a little more smart, I’d usually throw on a blazer, or for weekends at home, I found it looked effortless with a relaxed t-shirt.

02 | ASOS black denim mini skirt
In a similar vein as the J.Crew denim mini, this little ASOS number got so much wear time last summer, right through to autumn. This particular style is hemmed, which I find gives it a slightly smarter look. I tend to like wearing this most with a little bit of colour, as it doesn’t feel like so much of a contrast against the washed black hue of the denim.

03 | J.Crew polka dot wrap front top
My love of polka dots isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, nor is my fondness for this wrap top from J.Crew. What I love most about this particular piece is the cut; the cross front detail is really unusual but similarly very flattering as it shows off the shoulders. Because the print is quite subtle, this works with basically everything in my wardrobe, and while I don’t think it’s still available (sorry!), it’s definitely going to be a staple that I see myself reaching for again and again this spring.

04 | Grana silk cami
There are a few items in my wardrobe that I reach for when I don’t know what to wear, the Grana’s silk cami is one of the few that sit on that list. The hand-feel of the washed silk is divine, even after washing, and I find the square cut neckline to be very flattering. Plus, it helps that they go with everything, and they’re really easy to care for too – I just pop them in the washing machine in a delicates bag on the cold wash setting. We’re still only on the cusp of spring, but I’m looking forward to wearing these initially with some skinny jeans and an oversized cardigan, as I also find it to be a really versatile transitional piece.

05 | Madewell courier shirt
I picked up this oversized white cotton shirt from Madewell (also here) ahead of a trip Luke and I took to Europe and the US a couple years back, and it’s turned out to be one of my better “impulse” purchases – something I put down to the very classic nature of the cut and colour. This seems to be a core style for Madewell (you can also snap it up here), and I can see why – the dropped shoulders are surprisingly flattering, and the soft fabric creates just enough volume when it’s tucked into a skirt or pair of shorts. I also like to unbutton it a little and tie up the “tails” to create a more laid back look.

06 | Charlotte Olympia black velvet kitty flats
Finally, while I’m excited to start wearing my sandals for summer, I’m actually really looking forward to getting my beloved kitty flats back in rotation (on sale here). These shoes have been such a workhorse over the years, so much so that I’m on to my second pair. The black velvet might lean a little more autumnal, but I find that because of the more ‘delicate’ nature of the material, they’re better suited to warmer months, plus I love how they look best with pair legs (and a cute pair of shorts or a mini skirt!).
