Sharing my outfit in real-time today; a simple, effortless cosy winter combo. I’m currently trying to do this thing where I start my week off slow. A quick shower while our son has his post-“breakfast” nap, and then I take some time to enjoy a bite to eat and a (decaf) coffee.

Wearing & Other Stories white tank; L’Envers Johnny sweater; J Brand skinny jeans (also here); Vaneli two-tone pumps (also here); Polene Number One Bag; Mejuri chain necklace; Ellery earrings

I think I’ve probably always associated Monday’s as the day to get. things. done. But since becoming a mum, I’ve had to adapt; my time is no longer my own, and sometimes work just has to wait.

Onto today’s outfit. Fashion rules are something I don’t really tend to live by; I have formulas and hacks which work for my body type, but at the end of the day, I’d rather have fun with what I’m wearing than get caught up in some arbitrary notion of how things “should” be put together. Navy and black just happens to be one of those things. I kinda like how the wool sweater is so dark that is almost looks black. There’s this monochrome thing going on – something I’ve come to heavily rely on since becoming a mum.

The jeans are a piece you probably haven’t seen on my blog before. I bought them when I was four months pregnant in both the black and the white, taking a huge gamble on sizing. J Brand is one of those denim labels that I’ve always loved. The denim has a high elastane content to it, which gives it super stretch and is what makes them feel so comfortable. Despite the stretch, they still feel good quality; something I put down to the weight and thickness of the fabric. The style is “cropped”, which conveniently for me and my short inseam means perfectly hemmed at the ankle. Like all black jeans, I do find that these pick up fluff. I’ve been using a lint remover to get rid of any buildup.

I think the shoes are pretty self-explanatory. Most weeks you’ll find me wearing these two-toned pumps. Not many shoes are comfortable from the get-go, and just work with everything in my wardrobe. I have these in two colours, and the charcoal/black version is hands down my favourite. Perfect for the autumn/winter seasons too. If you caught my recent designer shoe dupes post, then you’ll have seen that they now come in a higher heel height too!

Finally, the bag. I need to pop down to the post office at some stage today, and figured this would be a good option for throwing in all my necessities. It’s much roomier than the nano or mini styles, making it a good option as a work bag, or even a nappy bag for me if I’m streamlining my bag essentials.
