I’ve been trying really hard to stay away from the sample sales. And I mean really hard. It’s a little disarming to live in a city where a sample sale seems to be on every week (or every other week), touting discounts of up to 70% off (and sometimes more) and one-off pieces which never made the full collection. Sounds tempting, right? And when it’s Ellery.. well, there really was no question about whether or not I’d be going.
A little tip for the unitiated – sample sales can be a treasure trove of hidden gems; dresses you never knew you needed, or a slick trouser suit which would just be perfect for that event you have this weekend. As tempting as it is, don’t get too carried away. I generally like to go with a piece that I’m after in mind, just to help me stay on track.
My one thing? A piece in this pretty damsun plum toned floral, which was really reason enough.
For those of you keen on a nabbing a bargain this weekend, you’re a little spoilt for choice, as Manning Cartell and Josh Goot are both holding warehouse sales. It’s probably a good thing for my bank account (and complete lack of restraint) that I’m busy all weekend…
