Earlier this week I received an email from RUBY about their upcoming Spring/Summer collection – an email I had to do a double take upon reading as I couldn’t believe that their new collection was expected to drop so soon, one week from now in fact. I’ve been sitting on these images for the better part of a month, agonising over which looks are my favourites and what pieces to I think I will buy – a habit which never seems to get old.
The collection draws inspiration from the film, ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’; but rather than be embroiled in a dark story of obsession and murder, the RUBY girl is enjoying her time by the seaside lazing in the sun, stopping in quaint little cafes for espresso followed by late afternoon yacht cruises on balmy summer days. This is a girl whose suitcase is one packed with reckless abandon; a mixture of nautical themed garments, leopard and paisley flocked denim and gold flecked watercolour prints. The ‘pasta-like’ bow on the toe of her shoes are just a small hint at where her travels will take her, and just one of the subtle details which has me wanting to be a RUBY girl this summer.
