May Beauty Favourites 2015

mademoiselle may beauty favourites 2015

The last month has seen not a single new product enter my beauty cabinet. I’ve bee so solely focused on nourishing my skin and doing what I know works rather than trying anything new, that a lot of my favourites this past month are ones that I’ve been using for a while now.

The first is the Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Cleansing Oil. I got this in June/July last year and am on my way to finishing it; it’s such a gentle, nourishing cleanser, and I still get surprised that it doesn’t break me out as I tend to have a more combination/oily skin type.

I know I talked about Bumble & Bumble’s thickening shampoo & conditioner last month, however this month, I thought I’d share a current favourite which is on the more affordable end of the scale. I’ve been dying to try a few options from the Organix range, and I’ve been absolutely loving the OGX coconut milk shampoo and macadamia oil conditioner. The shampoo lathers up really nicely (unlike some of the more boutique brands I’ve tried), and the conditioner is very thick and adds a lot of shine and moisture into my hair.

I’ve been using this in combination with Redken’s Diamond Oil, which has been part of my regular beauty rotation since I picked it up last year. I know there are plenty of other oils out there on the market, although this one does the job. I tend to use this to tame any strands at the roots and put a little bit of weight into the ends. I’m still on the hunt for something that’s a little heavier for the summertime as it tends to get very humid in Sydney – so any suggestions would be welcome!

I’ve only got three make up favourites this month, and the first is the Maybeliine Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser (or longest concealer name ever). I have this in the shade medium, which truthfully, is a bit dark for me now that I’ve lost most of my tan, however I’ve found it works just as well as a spot concealer. It’s a mid-weight formula and can easily be layered up, and wears really well throughout the day. I like the sponge twist top applicator as it’s so easy to apply the product to your skin!

The Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm has been hyped about on just about every beauty blog out there, and so it was without hesitation that I picked a pottle of this up. But, upon first use, I was pretty skeptical. I wasn’t a huge fan of the overly thick formula, nor was I prepared for the little granules which truthfully even now feel a little out of place. In saying that, this stuff works its magic over time. I tend to apply this just before I go to bed in the evenings or in the morning on my way to work and I’ve really come around.

My last favourite of the month is an oldie but a goodie; the velvet matte lip crayon in ‘Red Sqaure’ from NARS. This is the perfect fire engine red; the colour packs a punch and I really like the way that the formula sets down on your lips and does. not. budge. The Maybelline Color Drama lip pencils are a pretty good dupe if you’re looking for something a little more affordable, and that is a little creamier and easy to wear on the lips.

What were your favourites for the month of May? x
