With a wardrobe bursting with lace, breton stripes, and brightly colour soaked shorts, it would probably come as somewhat of a surprise that these cheap and cheerful broderie lace trimmed denim shorts have ranked among my few lasting favourites over the past few years. They’ve travelled halfway around the world with me and back, sailed across the Ionian and been left lying on the rocky cliffs of Santorini as I’ve jumped into the water for a dip. But with four summers proving to be just one too many and a broken zipper I lack the skills to replace, I’m on the hunt for a similar pair. The launch of RUBY’s pre-fall collection just yesterday couldn’t have been better timed, with the imperial denim shorts a likely replacement. For a ‘no frills’ version, I’m tossing up between Nobody Denim or J Brand; although like any denim purchase, it takes a bit of faith before jumping the gun on a pair sight unseen.
