A little white linen dress

This past week I’ve finally had a chance to start pulling out some of my winter knits – just. I’m not sure about you, but when a season seems to drag on, it makes it hard to get excited about your wardrobe, so I’ve been thinking a lot about how to invigorate new life into my warm weather wardrobe while I wait for that cool change to well and truly settle in. A good linen dress is definitely a staple in my warm weather wardrobe, and I’ve loved the addition of this little white midi from Grana – something I can see becoming a strong contender as a wardrobe staple during the spring and summer months.

c/o Grana linen dress (I also love this option and this is nice too), Everlane editor slingback flats (also love these), Cuyana tote bag (similar style), Lele Sadoughi earrings (similar from the same brand or these are a gorgeous alternative)

I’m a pretty big fan of Grana’s linen collection, and this midi instantly caught my eye (it also comes in a beautiful petal pink!) – the cut and the silhouette is minimal, which makes this a simple classic piece which won’t date. It’s double lined but still feels lightweight and cool against the skin, which made it the perfect choice to wear during a day of running errands. In case you’re wondering, I opted for the XS, which fits a bit like a size 8. It’s doesn’t quite hug the body (probably go down another size if you were after a closer fit), but there’s a little bit of shape to the silhouette.

STYLING NOTES

01 | Pared back styling
I’ve said it a few times, but the weather in Sydney has been unseasonably warm for this time of year – it essentially has felt like a never-ending summer. While I had a check blazer tucked away in my bag, I decided to primarily keep this outfit really simple, mostly to highlight the subtleties of the look. Linen is one of my favourite fabrics to wear – even if it is a little high maintenance – which was one of the things that really drew me to this linen dress from Grana (10% off with code JAMIExGRANA). It has a button detail down the side, and a slit on the left leg, which helps to make the simple style a little bit more modern and fresh. To take this piece into autumn, I’ll be looking to cinch it in the waist with a belt, and pair it with either a tailored blazer, or an oversized knit sweater.

02 | Pointed toe flats
I may have said this before (or at least in a recent video), but these pointed toe slingback flats from Everlane are one of my favourite wardrobe additions of the moment. I’m making steps to try and wear flats more often, and these are such a chic alternative to a pair of heels. I love the pointed toe, the low cut vamp, and the fine slingback strap which wraps around the heel. These are such a classic, and really elevate this rather simple outfit (I also think the pink pair would have looked great paired with the linen dress too!). In case you’re wondering, I was bang on in my review about these flats; the elasticated ‘slingback’ has relaxed quite a bit since I’ve had a chance to wear these more. While it doesn’t slip off my foot, it’s no longer ‘snug’, so make sure that if you do decide to pick up a pair, that the shoe holds your foot in well.

03 | Earrings that make an impact
I decided to make the most of the recent Shopbop sale, and snap up a few things on my wishlist, which included a pair of statement earrings from Lele Sadoughi. What I love most about these earrings is that they make a serious impact. Even though they’re pretty oversized, they are very lightweight making them a comfortable option to wear day to day, and they’re a real stand out when worn with something simple like the linen dress I’m wearing above.
