I live in wardrobe basics. You only have to take a look at my seasonal wear count to see that there’s a common thread with what I wear most day-to-day. Classic pieces which don’t go out of style. If you’ve been following me for a while now, it’ll come as little surprise that a huge chunk of those wardrobe basics on high rotation are from Everlane. Since placing my first order five years ago, it’s quickly become a go-to when I feel like something is missing from my wardrobe.

Wearing Everlane ribbed cashmere crew, Everlane patch pocket skirt, Country Road socks, Everlane boss boots, Everlane trench coat, Celine bag, Holly J earrings, Muru Jewellery necklace

So many items from Everlane have become ride-or-die, can’t-live-without wardrobe essentials that are constantly on repeat, and today I’ve partnered up with them to share my top ten favourite wardrobe staples from the brand. Safe to say, it was really hard to narrow it down to just ten, but here goes…

THE CASHMERE SWEATER

Probably the first thing I’m quick to recommend from Everlane is one of their cashmere sweaters. Along with their silk shirts, it’s what got me hooked on the brand. The classic cashmere crew is a good staple basic – slim-fitting through the arms and relaxed through the body. It’s smart enough for work but also does double duty for the weekend too. Or, if you’re after something that’s as cosy as a cloud, I love their cashmere crew rib sweater. This has more of a slouchy, oversized feel, and looks great tucked into skinny jeans.

THE CHEEKY STRAIGHT JEANS

You know you’re onto a good thing when you start adding it to your wardrobe in multiples. I’ve now accumulated three pairs of the cheeky straight; it’s become a go-to when I want to wear denim, and want to wear something other than a skinny jean. I’ve been wearing mine a lot with socks and boots now that winter has hit, but I love how they look with a low block heeled sandal during the warmer months.

THE SILK SHIRT

When I first discovered Everlane, it was because I was on the hunt for a well made washed silk shirt that didn’t break the bank. Years later, and this is still one of my favourite wardrobe staples. The silk is quite lightweight, making it a good candidate to wear almost all year round, and I love the absence of breast pockets; it gives the shirt a streamlined silhouette. There are two styles which are my must-haves. The relaxed silk shirt has a slim fit through the body and is perfectly suited for workwear. For a more relaxed silhouette, the oversized silk shirt is spot on. This is the kind of style I find works a little better for the weekend or paired with casual outfits.

THE LINEN SHIRT

I’ve spoken at length about my love of linen, and this shirt is such a classic. Unlike the silk shirt which has more of a formal feel to it, this is the kind of shirt you’d tuck in your suitcase for summer vacation to wear day-to-day or as a beach cover up. We don’t have any warm weather holidays on the horizon, so instead I’ve been pairing this with denim or a-line skirts. The linen has a medium weight to it, which has made this a good choice to wear during the transitional season. And, I love that the slight structure gives just enough volume around the waist when tucked in to balance out a pair of skinny jeans. Stick to your usual size for a more tailored look, or go up a couple sizes for a relaxed beachy option.

THE SILK CAMI

I’d hazard a guess that I wear my silk camisoles around 75% of the year – they’re a huge part of my core style uniform, and versatile too. The slightly dipped neckline is such a subtle yet unique detail and I love how spaghetti thin the straps are. The silk is wispy thin but being double lined, it’s not sheer at all. I wear my silk cami a lot with denim skirts during the warmer months, or with midi skirts, jeans and trousers when it starts to get a bit cooler.

THE PATCH POCKET SKIRT

One of the newer additions to my wardrobe, this patch pocket skirt has become a fast favourite. The a-line silhouette is the kind of style which is universally flattering, and I love the substantial feel of the fabric. This is made from the same stretch cotton as the wide leg crop; there’s a slight texture to the fabric but it feels smooth to the touch and has a nice amount of give. It’s winter now but when the weather allows, I’ve been opting to wear this bare legged (as above) with an oversized sweater tucked in. A simple combo but it’s effortlessly chic. For spring and summer, I’m looking forward to wearing this with crisp cotton shirts and my favourite silk camisoles.

THE WOOL BLAZER

I remember mentally kicking myself for not picking up this blazer the first year it launched. At the time it felt like a departure form my usual style, but I was just so drawn to its perfectly oversized, ‘borrowed from the boys’ kind of fit. Waiting 12 months for the restock felt like eons, but it was definitely worth the wait. I’ve loved wearing this most during the transitional seasons; despite being a wool blazer, it’s not a ‘heavy’ piece. I have this in my usual Everlane size – a US2. The fit is relaxed; I can wear a chunky knit sweater underneath quite comfortably, but I love how it looks with a lightweight piece like a simple tee or even a shirt, and I’ll usually roll the sleeves up to play with the proportions.

THE DAY HEELS

Probably my most worn item of the lot are my day heels. These epitomise versatility; the simple style works well for the weekend to dress up a casual outfit, or for the office as a tidy shoe option, or paired with a slinky dress for drinks at the bar. I have these in a couple colours but the black leather is the OG – it’s undeniably chic and classic. I’d class these as slightly more of a ‘glove’ style heel. They mould to the shape of your foot, and the leather is smooth and soft. The block heel makes them easy to walk around in too. I haven’t been too precious with mine and while there’s a little bit of (self-incurred) scuffing at the toe, the condition of these is superb considering I’ve been wearing them over two years now. Oh, and I haven’t had to have them re-soled either – a big win. I wear these in a US9.5 and they are the perfect fit. Everlane shoe sizing runs about half a size small from my experience – I’m an EU40 in designer shoes and wear a US9/AU9 in other brands.

THE BOSS BOOTS

My final favourite wardrobe staple from Everlane are their boss boots. A good pair of ankle boots are a must for me in winter – I practically live in them – and these are the ones I reach for almost daily. I love the pointed toe, and the block heel makes these another pair of shoes that are incredibly comfortable to walk in. The silver zipper detail on the inside of the shoe is a nice touch, too. I tend to wear these a lot with skinny jeans, or with an a-line skirt like above, with some calf socks scrunched around the opening. The pebbled leather on the black pair feels so thick but soft, and it adds a subtle texture to the boot that makes them feel a bit special.

I have to admit, I found it really tricky to keep it to just ten items, so I’ve also dropped a few more of my favourite picks from Everlane in the carousel below.

Thank you to Everlane for kindly sponsoring this post.
