My handbag collection

I’ve had a few requests for this one, so I figured it was about time that I gave you all a peek into my handbag collection.

I’m the type to mull over a bag purchase for a good six months or more (my PS11 took two years before I finally cinched the deal!), so there are a few bags in the above video which have been hanging around for a good three years or more. Given I’m probably known to spend a pretty penny on most things – and bags are no exception – I thought it was worth sharing a few details about my first designer purchase: the Proenza Schouler PS11.

This literally was a purchase two years in the making. Spending upwards of $500 on anything is enough to make most people cringe (which would explain why I tend to look away when making most expensive purchases…), so after spending a good year wanting for this bag, I tried to find an alternative; and I mean any alternative. I think it’s fair to say that the heart wants what the heart wants, so another year later, I dragged one of my best friends (and bridesmaids) with me to countless department stores in the US in hunt of this bag, only to pick it up online from La Garconne after finally ceding defeat. And more than four years later, it’s still one of my most loved, and most cherished purchases – one I have absolutely no regrets over. It’s definitely had it’s fair share of knocks and drops (!!), and even though it’s a little worse for wear, it has retained its shape and structure, and the leather doesn’t have a single scratch to it.

What’s your approach to your handbag collection? Are you patient and reserved? Or do you shop on impulse? x

Such a great bag collection. All simple, but all classics! And I love the way you display them. I’m the same way, I don’t have many bags, but I love the ones I have! I remember when you bought your Proenza Schouler, hehe…my how time flies!!

I saw your tweet about the Chloe Faye bag. That’s on my wish list even though I’ll never get it. I think part of the reason I love it so much is Faye is my middle name 😉 But it’s such a fun shape!

I just picked up a new one today, kind of spur of the moment. I went to my favorite consignment store (a different location) because they were having a Chanel sale and walked out with a gorgeous snakeskin and stingray purse by Emm Kuo when there was no Chanel in my size! (I went on the second day of the sale….bad idea!)

I am surprised. I expected a huge collection but this is very thoughtfully acquired and edited.

What a lovely collection. I was surprised it was so pared back as well – hats off to you! I’m in the process of decluttering my life because we’re moving to a much smaller house so I’m inspired that you can make so many outfits work with a modest collection (in size not quality of course). I love the set up. I was tempted to copy but I have no idea where we would put it. I’m hanging out for the house tour!

Thank you lovely! I think I would find having too many bags overwhelming – I can barely wear all the ones that I have as it is. At this stage I won’t be filming a house tour just as after a chat with Luke, I agreed it was something I wouldn’t share but you can see the occasional snippet on my instagram. Sorry!!
