Wardrobe must haves

WARDROBE MUST-HAVES

Total convert to the fluid drape trouser here, which is currently topping my list of closet must-haves. Couldn’t resist this pair from Beaufille. The khaki/olive hue makes for a nice neutral that isn’t black, cream, or grey. One of those good “no-colour” colours. Something else I can’t be without is a black blazer; ideally in a relaxed silhouette. Heading into summer I’m thinking more about light, breathable materials. This one from Lioness is right up my street. Boyfriend-style fit, and a linen blend. Perfect for throwing on over a little party dress for night, or dressed down with an oversized tee and denim shorts for day.

Like with trousers, my denim taste has experienced a bit of shift. I’ve eschewed the skinny jean silhouette (for the most part), in favour of a straight leg. Levi’s are the best when it comes to quality, price, and styles. The 80’s mom jean looks *chef’s kiss*, and has a straight leg with a slightly tapered fit to the ankle. Yes please. To go with the jeans, a good tee. Maybe in a colour, like this warm caramel one from Something Navy.

Party Season Ready Outfits

PARTY-SEASON READY

Name a better time to wear sequins than over the holidays. And it doesn’t get more glam than this midnight navy strapless midi from Amanda Uprichard. This would look incredible with that oversized black blazer I shared earlier. Retrofete are a favourite on the party circuit, perhaps best known for their sequinned minis. But for me it’s all about this bronze maxi with thigh high split. Definitely a showstopper and would be great for a more formal festive occasion.

Of course I had to highlight two pieces which are versatile year-round options. For the dress, anything and everything Norma Kamali but more specifically, this one. Form-fitting with that little fishtail hem, in a midi length. It’s sexy but not overtly so and a blank canvas. Chic with black strappy sandals, or opt for a bolder look with some bright pumps. Alternatively go with the top that you can wear with jeans, trousers, skirts. Like this one from Tibi. The very definition of an elevated basic, it has an interesting squiggly neckline, and longer length.

My fave accessories from the Shopbop Black Friday Sale

ACCESSORIZE

Finally let’s talk accessories.

First thing that caught my eye were these loafers from Tory Burch. Classic silhouette, with subtle enough branding and that little flourish of the gold which makes them feel special. The style is utterly timeless, but a fun update on a classic. For something more sparkly – and festive season appropriate – try these from Malone Souliers. The sparkly embellishment is so special, and these will give you instant party perfect feet!

Karen Walker is the OG when it comes to quirky sunglasses, and I adore this update on her classic Northern Lights frames. Love the soft tortoise print, too.

Ending on something I think every closet should have; a good belt. This one from Rag & Bone is a classic; a flat matte leather, with aged silver buckle. What drew me to this most is that the buckle is squared off for a modern touch.
