Everlane ruched air blouse and Madewell skinny jeans

Kicking off the week with a download of the first five outfits I’ve worn as part of my Spring 30X30.

day one

Wearing Everlane blouse; Madewell skinny jeans; Undercontrol studio belt (10% off with “mademoiselle10”); Gucci loafers; The Curated mock croc leather bag; Filippo Loreti jewellery (use “mademoiselle15” for 15% off purchases over $60)

If this has been a taste of what to expect for the rest of the month – weather wise – then I’ll have to say I definitely underestimated how warm it would be. I kicked off my spring capsule wardrobe with a simple white blouse and denim combo. I love the blouse, and love the jeans, so figured together, they’d be heaven. I feel like this is a pretty good example of an idea in theory which I don’t think came together the way I’d anticipated. This is definitely something I’m planning to touch on at the end of my capsule; looks I loved, ones which were a true reflection of how I see my personal style, and the outfits I didn’t feel quite worked out. But overall, I felt comfortable, and I liked the neutral toned accessories. The dark brown belt with gold buckle matches perfectly with my new loafers!

Celine Trio Small in grey

day two

Wearing Free People tank; Yan13 shorts (10% off with “mademoiselle10”); & Other Stories sweater; Celine trio; Birkenstocks (not pictured)

The temperature felt like it went from zero to one hundred. And all I felt like wearing was a singlet and denim shorts. A fairly simple combination, and one that I’d normally go the extra mile to style up properly with jewellery and accessories. Now that our son has hit the seven month mark, he’s becoming a lot more alert (and demanding…!), which means I’m lucky if I have enough time to apply a little bit of makeup. So it ended up being pared back by default. It can sometimes be a little chilly in the house, so I had an oversized sweater casually thrown over my shoulders on standby, just in case.

Minimal Summer Outfit Idea Parisian Style

day three

Wearing Free People off shoulder top; Madewell shorts; Birkenstock sandals; Everlane studio bag; Marle hat

First day of the long weekend, and we made the most of the good weather by heading down to a local bay, for our boy’s first dip in the sea. I went for this black cotton poplin blouse which I wore off one shoulder. Maybe my shoulders are a little wide, but I find it fussy to try and wear off both shoulders. Plus, this feels a little different to me as you get that asymmetrical sleeve length. The shorts have been a fast favourite – a purchase I recently made in anticipation of the summer. A taste of the direction I’m slowly taking my colour palette in. Finished off with black accessories. The hat is a recent purchase, and it’s safe to say, I’m obsessed!

Minimal Style Arket Sleeveless Cotton Poplin Dress

day four

Wearing Arket cotton poplin dress; Jane Debster slides; Mango straw bag

Instead of selecting all items for my 30 day capsule from the get go, I decided to take a slow approach, opting to settle on 22 pieces from the start. I saw this as an opportunity to “live” with my capsule, and get a real sense of what was missing. Safe to say I didn’t anticipate adding in any of those additional items so early on in the piece. But with the weather being so warm, I realised there were two things I thought would really come in handy; a pair of warm-toned leather sandals, and a sleeveless cotton dress. You can see the two picks above – both I think really reflective of the overall colour palette I chose to go with for this capsule.

Isabel Marant roan wrap skirt and Cuyana leather tote bag

day five

Wearing Bassike racerback tank; Isabel Marant wrap skirt; Jane Debster slides; Cuyana leather tote bag

Which brings us to today’s outfit, another full navy look. Here I went tonal, wearing my navy racerback tank with a navy wrap skirt. I love how this feels and looks like a dress, while still being separates. We spent the final day of the long weekend enjoying the sunshine and catching up with friends, so I wanted something that looked cute but felt effortless. Which probably explains why despite gravitating towards my Birkenstocks, I ended up going with the tan slides instead. They just feel a little more dressed up.
